Jean-Claude Olivier
Jean-Claude Olivier (28 February 1945 – 12 January 2013), often referred to simply as "JCO", was a French motorcycle racer and president of Yamaha Motor France S.A. from 1992 to 2010. He helped launch the careers of many famous French riders including Patrick Pons, Christian Sarron and Stéphane Peterhansel. He was a veteran of nine editions of the Dakar Rally, placing second in the motorcycle category in 1985 Paris-Dakar Rally, 1985. Career Employment at Sonauto Olivier's father Gonzague Olivier, Gonzague had enjoyed a successful career racing Porsche sportscars during the 1950s, and became great friends with regular co-driver Auguste Veuillet. Veuillet had founded the company Sonauto in 1947 and went on to become the first major importer of Porsche road cars to France. 1984 Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Season
The 1984 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 36th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Season summary Defending champion Freddie Spencer was the pre-season favorite to win the championship however, teething problems with Honda's new V4 and early season injuries squelched his hopes to repeat. In spite of his problems, Spencer still took five wins. Eddie Lawson lived up to his nickname of Steady Eddie with four wins and four second places to secure his first 500cc world championship on a Yamaha. Randy Mamola also had three wins to finish second on a factory backed Honda. Yamaha also claimed the 250 crown with Frenchman Christian Sarron taking the honors ahead of a strong challenge from Real-Rotax mounted Manfred Herweh. Angel Nieto would win a thirteenth world championship with six wins in a row before sitting out the final two races. Christian Rayer (born 14 December 1945) is professional motorbike rider who also runs enterprises. Accomplishments Six times champion of France in the Trial International, he participated in the creation of the first competition Trial bike, the Cota 247 when he was with the Spanish firm Montesa and won the trophy thrice at the famous “Six jours d’Ecosse” or “Scotland 6 days”. Thereafter, he was contracted by the Japanese firm Yamaha and participated in the creation of the first competition Trial bike for the brand in 1971, the TY 250cc. Founder of the showroom Moto 92 at Chaville, he went on to develop new engines for the bikes TY350-XT600-TY239-MX175-200cc. He was also the founder of the first riding school for all terrain bikers at Paris and participated as one of the official team members of Yamaha for the inaugural Paris-Dakar.
