Jayson Shaw
Jayson Shaw (born 13 September 1988) is a Scottish professional pool player. In 2010, Shaw was a WPA World Blackball Champion. Shaw has won the Mosconi Cup seven times whilst representing Team Europe. Career In 2016, Shaw won the 25th International Challenge of Champions event. He defeated Shane Van Boening in the final in Atlantic City. In 2017, Shaw dominated Eklent Kaci, 13–4, to win the 42nd U.S. Open Pool Championship in Nine-ball pool. Shaw also appeared representing Europe at the Mosconi Cup, winning the event in 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. He won the MVP award at the 2020, 2021 and 2024 events. At the 2024 Mosconi Cup he became the first player-captain to win the MVP award. On 18 January 2022, Shaw set a new world high run record in 14.1 straight pool with a score of 714. The Derby City Classic is an annual pool convention and tournament held every January at the Caesars Southern Indiana casino in Elizabeth, Indiana, near Louisville, Kentucky. It is eight days long and offers various disciplines of competition for pool players of all caliber. It is often referred to as the DCC. History The annual convention has been in existence since 1997. Diamond Billiard Products, is the title sponsor of the event, and the lead tournament promoter is Greg Sullivan. Over $100,000 is to the tournament payouts. 2020 Mosconi Cup
The 2020 Mosconi Cup was a team nine-ball tournament, between teams representing Europe and the United States. It was the 27th edition of the competition and took place between 1–4 December 2020. The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Alexandra Palace in London, however it was moved to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry with the whole event behind closed doors in a COVID-19 secure bubble. The coronavirus pandemic also affected the team selection, with Corey Deuel replacing Justin Bergman for Team USA after Bergman tested positive for COVID-19. Team USA were defending champions, having won the two previous tournaments. After a close first day, Team Europe were 3–2 ahead but only lost one further match, winning the cup 11–3. Jayson Shaw won the Most Valuable Player award for the first time after winning all his singles and doubles matches. The 2021 Mosconi Cup (officially the 2021 Cazoo Mosconi Cup) was the 28th edition of an annual nine-ball pool tournament between teams representing Europe and the United States. It took place between 7 and 10 December 2021 at the Alexandra Palace in London, marking the second consecutive year that the tournament had been staged in England, and the first time since 2002 that the event did not alternate annually between the US and Europe. Sponsored by British online car retailer Cazoo, it was broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK and on networks worldwide.
