Jaye Walton
Joan Muriel Walton OAM (née Brewer; 27 December 1928 – 21 March 2017), better known as Jaye Walton, was an Australian media and journalism personality. She was a businesswoman, television personality and producer, and magazine publisher. Walton was the first South Australian woman to produce and host a television show which, by 1979, was the state's longest running show. She was also the first publisher of ''SA'' magazine and a documentary film maker. Walton raised awareness and funds for children's health and welfare charities in Australia and Thailand. Biography Born in Adelaide, South Australia, she was the daughter of British sea captain, Frederick Henry Brewer, and Muriel Beatrice Brewer (nee Barlow). Walton spent her early childhood in India and England. When her family moved back to Adelaide, she attended Methodist Ladies College (now Annesley). The Order of Australia is an Australian honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of then prime minister Gough Whitlam. Before the establishment of the order, Australians could receive British honours, which continued to be issued in parallel until 1992. Appointments to the order are made by the governor-general, "with the approval of The Sovereign", according to recommendations made by the Council for the Order of Australia. Members of the government are not involved in the recommendation of appointments, other than for military and honorary awards. SAS (TV Station)
SAS, formerly SAS-7 and before that SAS-10, is a television station in Adelaide, South Australia. It is part of the Seven Network. History SAS-7 was originally known as SAS-10, an affiliate of what became Network Ten. It commenced broadcasting on 26 July 1965, as SA Telecasters. In the early 1970s the station was bought out by Perth station TVW-7 and thus, on two occasions, shared the same image campaigns as TVW's. On 1982, SAS and TVW were bought by the Bell Group. On 27 December 1987, SAS-10 and Seven Network's original affiliate ADS-7 switched broadcast channels and affiliations, ADS moving to channel 10, SAS moving to channel 7. Anne Shirley Wills (born 3 October 1944) is an Australian television and radio personality based in Adelaide. Wills holds the record for the most number of Logies won by a person in the history of the awards, winning 19 Most Popular State Personality Logies, and one as producer of ''Clapperboard''. Background Wills was born in Wangaratta, Victoria in October 1944. When she was three years old, her family moved to Ocean Island in the Pacific Ocean, now known as Banaba Island and part of Kiribati, and lived there until the family moved to Adelaide in 1963. The Principality of Hutt River, often referred to by its former name, the Hutt River Province, was a micronation in Australia, proclaimed on 21 April 1970 when farmer Leonard Casley declared his farm to be a sovereign state, the "Hutt River Province". He claimed to have seceded from Australia, which occurred during his dispute with the authorities concerning wheat production quotas. A few years later, Casley began styling himself as "Prince Leonard" and granting family members royal titles, although he did not include the word "principality" in the official name until 2006. In 2017, Casley's claim to rulership was taken over by his son Graeme, who dropped the claim to sovereignty on 3 August 2020.
