Jayasuriya
Jayasuriya or Jayasooriya is a Sinhala people, Sinhalese name. It derives from Sanskrit and consists of two parts: ''Jaya'', which means ''victory'' in Sanskrit and Sinhalese, the later half ''suriya'' means Sun or the Surya, solar deity in Hinduism. Sanath Jayasuriya
Deshabandu Sanath Teran Jayasuriya (, ; born 30 June 1969), is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, captain, cricket administrator and coach. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest all rounders ever to play in ODI cricket. A left arm orthodox spinner, left handed batter and a dynamic fielder, Jayasuriya together with his opening partner Romesh Kaluwitharana is credited for having revolutionized one-day international cricket with his explosive batting in the mid-1990s, which initiated the hard-hitting modern-day batting strategy of all nations. He was a key member of the Sri Lankan team that won 1996 Cricket World Cup. Under his captaincy Sri Lanka became joint champions along with India in the 2002 Champions Trophy. Prabath Jayasuriya
Neketh Gedara Roshan Prabath Jayasuriya, commonly known as Prabath Jayasuriya (born 5 November 1991), is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the national team in Tests and ODIs. In domestic matches, he plays for Colts Cricket Club and Jaffna Stallions. He bowls left arm orthodox spin and a lower order batsman who can bat a bit. Gampalage Shehan Naveendra De Fonseka Gunawarna Jayasuriya, or commonly Shehan Jayasuriya (; born 12 September 1991), is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who played for Chilaw Marians in Sri Lankan domestic cricket and has represented Sri Lanka internationally. He is a quick-scoring left-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. He was born in Colombo, and attended Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa. Jayantha Chandrasiri Jayasuriya, President's Counsel, PC () is a lawyer who served as the 47th Chief Justice of Sri Lanka from April 2019 to October 2024. Jayasuriya was approved by the Constitutional Council (Sri Lanka), Constitutional Council on 26 April 2019 and sworn in three days later on 29 April, succeeding Chief Justice Nalin Perera (judge), Nalin Perera. Mervyn Jayasuriya was a veteran announcer with Radio Ceylon - the oldest radio station in South Asia. Jayasuriya presented some of the most popular radio programmes over the airwaves of Radio Ceylon, such as "Roving Mike" and "Sports Newsreel". Bernard Jayasuriya
Bernard Jayasuriya was a Ceylonese businessman and politician. Bernard Jayasuriya was the son of D. C. D. Jayasuriya, a rubber plantation and graphite mine owner. He received his education at S. Thomas College and St. Joseph's College, Colombo, where he captained the school's cricket team. He later played for the Singhalese Sports Club. He served as a member of the 2nd State Council of Ceylon, between February 1943 and 1947, for Avissawella, following the arrest and detention of the sitting member, Philip Gunawardena in July 1942 for his participation in the independence struggle in India. Sisira Jayasuriya, was a professor of economics at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. His research and policy advisory activities cover trade, macroeconomic, environmental and food policy issues in developing countries, with a focus on Asia.
