Jayashree Kabir
Jayashree Kabir (; born 1952) is a Bengali film actress. She acted in around 30 films in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Career While studying at South Point School, Jayashree Roy earned the title of Miss Kolkata in 1968. She made her debut with Satyajit Ray's ''Pratidwandi'' in 1969, which also marked her breakthrough role. She married Bangladeshi film director Alamgir Kabir and starred in two of his films, ''Simana Periye'' and ''Rupali Soikote'', which are regarded by the British Film Institute (BFI) as among the finest films to have come out of Bangladesh. Later in life, she moved to London, where she now resides. She teaches English at a higher education college. Alamgir Kabir (film Maker)
Alamgir Kabir (26 December 1938 – 20 January 1989) was a Bangladeshi film director and cultural activist. Three of his feature films are featured in the "Top 10 Bangladeshi Films" list by British Film Institute. Kabir was awarded Independence Day Award posthumously in 2010 for his contribution the to Bangladeshi culture. Early life and education Kabir was born on 26 December 1938 in Rangamati in the then British India. His parents originated from Banaripara Upazila of Barisal district, Barisal. He completed the matriculation in 1952 from Dhaka Collegiate School and the intermediate in 1954 from Dhaka College. After completion of bachelors from the University of Dhaka in physics, he went to England to study electrical engineering at Oxford University at the age of 22. Sabyasachi (film)
''Sabyasachi'' is a 1977 Bengali language period political action thriller film directed by Pijush Basu. Based on the novel '' Pather Dabi'' written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, the film produced by Asim Sarkar under the banner of Usha Films. It stars Uttam Kumar in the titular role, alongside Supriya Devi, Bikash Roy, Kiran Lahiri and Tarun Kumar in lead roles. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Nidan Bandhu Banerjee and particularly Uttam Kumar himself, marking his second film as a composer after ''Kal Tumi Aleya'' (1966). Set in British India, it revolves around a freedom fighter as well as revolutionary Dr. Sabyasachi Mallick, arresting whom is very difficult for the police as he always escape through his presence of mind and jaw dropping disguises.
