Javed Ahmed Rana
Javed Ahmed Rana (born 1963) is an Indian politician from Jammu and Kashmir. He is a member of Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly from Mendhar Assembly constituency, which is reserved for Scheduled Tribe community. He is a cabinet minister in the government of Jammu and Kashmir. He is a member of the JKNC political party. Early life and education Rana is from Kalaban village, Mendhar tehsil, Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir. He is the son of Babu Faiz Ahmed and is the younger brother of the prominent former IPS officer and vice chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri, Masud Choudhary. He completed his BA and later did LLB in 1989 at the University of Jammu. He is a lawyer and married Hamida Begum Rana, a businesswoman. Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is a technical university, located outside Rajouri city in the Jammu division of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a state university that is regulated by the University Grants Commission, and a member of the Association of Indian Universities. The vice-chancellor, Jawaid Iqbal, was appointed in November 2024. History Legislation to establish the university was passed in 2002 by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, and the university was in full operation by 2005, led by the founding vice-chancellor Masud Choudhary. It is named for the Pir Panjal sufi Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah, whose shrine is located in Shahadra Sharief, a village close by in Rajouri district. 1996 Jammu And Kashmir Legislative Assembly Election
Elections for the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir were held over September–October 1996. Farooq Abdullah became Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir after the elections. The 1996 Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in the state were possible due to efforts of counter-insurgents like Kuka Parray, (head of Ikhwan-ul-Muslemoon).
