Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Ainjibi Forum () is a forum of lawyers aligned with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. History Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum was founded by Tafazzal Hossain Khan after he joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party which was founded by President Ziaur Rahman. Khan was elected to parliament in 1979. Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, backed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, stands in Bar Association elections against the Awami League backed Bangladesh Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad. In November 2005, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum created a new committee led by Aminul Haque and Tafazzal Hossain Khan, Minister of Post and Telecommunications of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party government. On 25 May 2014, High Court Division Judge Sharif Uddin Chaklader abstained from work following a call of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum. Paltan Thana
Paltan is a thana (precinct) of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It is often said to be the center of Dhaka, dividing "Old Dhaka" and "New Dhaka". Paltan was made a thana in 2005 by then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Paltan Thana was formed on 27 June 2005 comprising part of Motijheel thana. History The name Paltan came from a cantonment of the British East India Company. The name was derived from the English word platoon, but in reality a size of battalion or regiment. Starting from Gulistan area, Purana Paltan, Purana Paltan Lane, Naya Paltan, Topkhana and up to Fulbaria rail-line, it was the cantonment of the East India Company and there were Artillery forces in Topkhana. Bangladesh Chhatra League, simply Chhatra League (), is the student wing of the political party, Bangladesh Awami League, founded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 4 January 1948. The organisation is banned and listed as a terrorist organisation in Bangladesh. BCL has been repeatedly accused of committing mass violence including torture, extortion, forced prostitution, killings to instill fear. At least 33 people were killed and 1,500 were seriously injured from attacks by BSL between 2009 and 2014. The number of fatalities rose to 129 between 2014 and 2018 while 31 people were killed in 2018 alone. The Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association () is a professional association of Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyers. History The Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association issued a statement expressing concern over the construction of Farakka Barrage by India near the border and preventing the flow of water to Bangladesh in February 1976. In 1987, the President of association was detained and placed in Dhaka Central Jail as part of a wider crackdown on dissent against the dictatorship of President Hussain Mohammad Ershad. AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon
A.M. Mahbub Uddin Khokon (born 12 January 1956) is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician, lawyer and a former member of parliament from the Noakhali-1 constituency. Early life Khokon was born in Sonapur, in the district of Noakhali's Sonaimuri Upazila. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed was his father, and Begum Raushan Ara was his mother. Of his nine siblings, he is the oldest. Khokon obtained SSC from Gopalpur High School in Noakhali. HSC from Dhaka Government College and Dhaka University with an LLB. Murder Of Abrar Fahad
On October 6, 2019, Abrar Fahad, a second-year student in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was murdered inside BUET's Sher-e-Bangla Hall by activists of Chhatra League, the student wing of then ruling party Awami League. The incident sparked national outrage and led to protests against campus violence. Out of 25 convicts, 20 were given death sentences and 5 others were give life sentence in relation to the murder of Abrar Fahad following a highly publicized trial. Bangladesh Bar Council () is a statutory autonomous body in Bangladesh, established under the Legal Practitioners and the Bar Council Order, 1972. It is the licensing and Regulatory body for lawyers in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Bar Council ensures that every lawyer maintains the highest professional standards and adheres to proper etiquette. The bar council can establish tribunals to investigate and prosecute complaints against lawyers. In 2019, there were five such tribunals.
