Jathedar
A jathedar ( pa, ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ) is a leader of high regard chosen to head and ensure discipline within a jatha, a body of Sikhs. The Jathedar of the Akal Takht is the central head of the Sikhs worldwide, who makes all important decisions after consultation with the jathedars of the other four takhts. The current Jathedar of the Akal Takht is Jagtar Singh Hawara, who was appointed by the Sarbat Khalsa on 10 November 2015. Due to the political imprisonment of Hawara, Dhian Singh Mand appointed by the Sarbat Khalsa and Harpreet Singh appointed by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee have been serving as the acting jathedars. Akali Phula Singh
Akali Phula Singh Nihang (born Nihang Singh; 1 January 1761 – 14 March 1823) was an Akali Nihang Sikh leader. He was a saint soldier of the Khalsa Shaheedan Misl and head of the Budha Dal in the early 19th century. He was also a senior general in the Sikh Khalsa Army and commander of the irregular Nihang of the army. He played a role in uniting Sikh misls in Amritsar. He was not afraid of the British who at many times ordered for his arrest but were not successful. During his later years he served for the Sikh Empire as a direct adviser to Maharaja Ranjit Singh. He remained an army general in many famous Sikh battles up until his martyrdom in the battle of Nowshera. He was admired by the local people and had a great influence over the land and his settlement was always open to help the poor and helpless. Gurdev Singh Kaunke
Gurdev Singh Kaunke ( pa, ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਾਉਂਕੇ; 1949 – 1 January 1993) was a Sikh priest who served as the acting Jathedar of Akal Takht from 1986 to 1993. Early life Gurdev Singh was born in 1949 at village Kaunke Kalan under Jagraon subdivision of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India. His father was Gurdial Singh and mother Chand Kaur. Gurdev Singh's grandfather, Jathedar Totha Singh was a companion of Baba Nand Singh of Nanaksar. At a young age, Singh took the vows of the Khalsa and became an initiated Sikh. Akali Hanuman Singh

Partap Singh
Giani Partap Singh (Punjabi: ਗਿਆਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ; 3 January 1904 – 10 May 1984) was a Sikh priest and Panjabi writer. He served as the first acting Jathedar of Akal Takht from 19 December 1937 to 1948 and 19th Jathedar of Akal Takht from 1952 to 15 February 1955. Early life and career Partap Singh was born on 3 January 1904, at Nara village in Rawalpindi division of Panjab, British India. His father was Makhan Singh Sasan and mother Mathura Devi. Sarbat Khalsa
Sarbat Khalsa (lit. meaning ''all the Khalsa''; Punjabi: ( Gurumukhi)), was a biannual deliberative assembly (on the same lines as a Parliament in a Direct Democracy) of the Sikhs held at Amritsar in Panjab during the 18th century. It literally translates to the "entire Sikh Nation" but as a political institution it refers to the meetings of the Dal Khalsa, Sikh Misls, and the legislature of the Sikh Empire. The first Sarbat Khalsa was called by the tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh before his death in 1708 and the tradition of calling Sarbat Khalsa has continued ever since at times of hardship or conflict. Jathedar Santa Singh (1928–2008) was a Nihang and 13th Jathedar of Budha Dal, after Akali Chet Singh. He was born as Pashaura Singh in Gujranwala. Giani Harpreet Singh
Harpreet Singh (born 1972) is a Sikh preacher who is the current Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee appointed acting jathedar of the Akal Takht since 2018. He has also been serving as the jathedar of Damdama Sahib since 2017. Early life and education Harpreet Singh was born in Giddarbaha, Punjab, to Ranjit Singh, a granthi of a rural gurdwara and Harbhajan Kaur in May 1972. He joined Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee as a preacher in 1997 and two year later he was assigned as the head granthi of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Muktsar. Jathedar Sadhu Singh Bhaura
Sadhu Singh Bhaura ( pa, ਸਾਧੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਭੌਰਾ) (6 June 1905 – 7 March 1984) was a Sikh missionary who served as the 21st Jathedar of Akal Takht from 1964 to 1980. Baba Darbara Singh
Baba Darbara Singh (1644–1734) was second Jathedar of Khalsa Panth Dal Khalsa. He should not be confused with other Darbara Singh of Sirhind who fought in Battle of Anandpur. Teja Singh Akarpuri
Teja Singh Akarpuri (1892 – 20 November 1975) was an Indian and Sikh politician who served as the 11th Jathedar of Akal Takht from 1921 to 1923 and 1926 to 1930. He was the First MP from Gurdaspur constituency In Lok Sabha from 1952 to 1957 and was succeeded by Diwan Chand Sharma. Early life Teja Singh was born in the Gurdaspur district of the Punjab. His father was Pala Singh and mother Partap Kaur. He matriculated from Khalsa Collegiate School, Amritsar, in 1911, and enlisted in the 24th Sikh Battalion of the Indian Army the following year.
