Jason Nazary
Jason Nazary (born January 24, 1984) is an American jazz and improvisational musician (drums and electronics). He was born in Aviano, Italy, while his father was in the US military, and grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia area. In 2002, he played in Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He moved to New York City in 2005, and, as of 2019, he is based in Brooklyn, New York. The ''Chicago Reader'', or ''Reader'' (stylized as ЯEADER), is an American alternative weekly newspaper in Chicago, Illinois, noted for its literary style of journalism and coverage of the arts, particularly film and theater. It was founded by a group of friends from Carleton College. The ''Reader'' is recognized as a pioneer among alternative weeklies for both its creative nonfiction and its commercial scheme. Joe Morris (guitarist)
Joseph Francis Michael Morris (born September 13, 1955) is an American jazz guitarist, bassist, composer, and educator. Early life Morris was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on September 13, 1955. He switched from trumpet to guitar at the age of fourteen. He was self-taught. His interest in jazz began two years later, after attending a John McLaughlin concert and listening to John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Pharoah Sanders recordings. Later life and career Morris moved to Boston in 1975, "where his unique approach was not initially accepted in the then-prevalent modal jazz scene. Despite this temporary setback, and some time spent playing guitar in Europe, he developed a pivotal collaborative relationship with multi-instrumentalist Lowell Davidson, whose unique sound explorations inspired him to further develop his own original approach to music making". International Anthem Recording Company
International Anthem Recording Company is an American record label based in Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 2012 by Scottie McNiece and David Allen, and launched in 2014, the label mostly releases records that have been categorised as jazz, with a particular focus on artists from the Chicago area. History The label formed when McNiece, a drummer originally from Indiana, moved to Chicago and started a live jazz night in a bar in the River North part of the city. He invited David Allen, a recording engineer based in South Illinois, to record the acts. The label's first release was ''Alternative Moon Cycles'', by Chicago Underground trumpeter Rob Mazurek, in December 2014. Jaimie Breezy Branch (June 17, 1983 – August 22, 2022) was an American jazz trumpeter and composer. Biography Branch was born in Huntington, New York, on June 17, 1983. She started playing trumpet at age nine. At age 14, she moved to Wilmette, a suburb of Chicago. She attended the New England Conservatory of Music. After graduating, Branch moved back to Chicago, working as a musician, organizer, and sound engineer on the local music scene, including with Jason Ajemian (on ''The Art of Dying'', 2006), Keefe Jackson's Project Project (on ''Just Like This'', 2007), Tim Daisy's New Fracture Quartet (on ''1000 Lights'', 2008), Anton Hatwich, and Ken Vandermark. The Ex (band)
The Ex are an underground band from the Netherlands that formed in 1979 at the height of the original punk explosion. Initially known as an anarcho-punk band, they have since released over 20 full-length albums exploring a wide variety of genres, blending punk rock with free jazz and folk music from all over the world. Biography The Ex's music has undergone significant evolution over the years from their beginnings as a punk band. Founded by singer Jos Kley (better known as G.W.
