Jason Moore (safety)
Jason Dwayne Moore (born January 15, 1976) is a former safety in the National Football League. He was born and grew up in San Bernardino, CA. Jason attended Pacific High School from 1990 to 1994. There he lettered in track, baseball and football. He helped Pacific become Divisional Champions in baseball and football. Jason earned a scholarship for football at San Diego State University. At SDSU, he earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. Jason became an All-Western Athletic Conference Safety at SDSU. He graduated in 1998 and finished second all time in interceptions (13) and tackles (328). Jason finished third all time in interception return yards (237). Jason played his first NFL season with the Denver Broncos. His second season was split between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. Safety (gridiron Football Position)
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. As professional and college football have become more focused on the passing game, safeties have become more involved in covering the eligible pass receivers. 2002 NFL Season
The 2002 NFL season was the 83rd regular season of the National Football League. The league went back to an even number of teams with the addition of the Houston Texans; the league has remained static with 32 teams since. The clubs were realigned into eight divisions, four teams in each. Also, the Chicago Bears played their home games in 2002 in Champaign, Illinois at Memorial Stadium because of the reconstruction of Soldier Field. The NFL title was won by Tampa Bay when they defeated Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California on January 26, 2003. It would be the last Super Bowl held in January and the last to be hosted in San Diego.
