Jasma Odan
Jasma Odan is a folk deity from medieval Gujarat about a woman who committed '' sati'' to protect her honor after her husband was murdered by Siddharaj Jaisinh, a king of Chaulukya dynasty. Legend Jasma was a wife of Rooda who was a pond digger. They belonged to the Odh rajput tribe, a drifting tribe of laborers in Gujarat, Kathiawar, and some parts of Rajasthan. They were at Anhilwad Patan to dig Sahastralinga Tank, a lake and thousand shrines with lingam. Siddharaj Jaisinh, a king of Chaulukya dynasty, was captivated by the beauty of Jasma and proposed marriage. He offered to make her queen of Gujarat but she refused. Jaisinh killed her husband. She committed '' sati'', by jumping into the pyre, to protect her honor. Her curse made the tank of Sahasralinga Tank waterless and Siddharaj without an heir to his kingdom of Gujarat. Khalil (actor)
Khalil was an Indian cinema actor of silent and talkie films. He achieved stardom with silent films like ''Gul-E-Bakavali'' (1924), ''Kulin Kanta'' (1925), and ''Lanka Ni Laadi'' (1925) which was a major success commercially. His other successes included ''Cinema Queen'' (1925) with Sulochana, ''Draupadi'' (1931), and ''Daily Mail'' (1930). Khalil is referred to as the "macho hero". Khalil worked from 1920 to 1941, making a transition to Talkies in 1931 with ''Draupadi'' directed by B. P. Mishra, and ''Daulat Ka Nasha'' directed by Pesi Karani. Gohar Khayyam Mamajiwala (19 November 1910 – 28 September 1985), also known as Miss Gohar, was an Indian singer, actress, producer and studio owner. Homi Master
Homi Master (?–1949) was an actor-director of early Indian cinema. His work extended from the silent era to the talkie era and up to his death. He produced his best films for Kohinoor Film Company and he has been referred to as "silent cinema's most successful film-maker". Master acted in the then-controversial film '' Bhakta Vidur'' (1921), ''Kala Naag'' and ''Kulin Kanta''. Some of his important films were ''Bismi Sadi'', ''Manorama'', ''Do Ghadi Ki Mauj'' (1935), ''Samaj Ki Bhool'' (1934) and ''Gul Sanobar'' (1934). Shanta Gandhi
Shanta Kalidas Gandhi (20 December 1917 – 6 May 2002) was an Indian theatre director, dancer and playwright who was closely associated with IPTA, the cultural wing of the Communist Party of India. She studied with Indira Gandhi at a residential school in the early 1930s, and remained close to the prime minister in later life. Patan () is the administrative seat of Patan District in the Indian state of Gujarat and is an administered municipality. Jayasimha Siddharaja
Jayasiṃha ( ), who assumed the title Siddharāja (), was an Indian king who ruled western parts of India. He was a member of the Chaulukya (also called Solanki) dynasty. Jayasimha's capital was located at Anahilapataka (modern Patan) in present-day Gujarat. Besides large parts of Gujarat, his control also extended to parts of Rajasthan: he subdued the Shakambhari Chahamana king Arnoraja, and the former Naddula Chahamana ruler Asharaja acknowledged his suzerainty. Sati or suttee is a Hindu practice, now largely historical, in which a widow sacrifices herself by sitting atop her deceased husband's funeral pyre.
