Jarvis Johnson
Jarvis Diallo Johnson (born September 27, 1971) is an American entrepreneur and politician who served in the Texas House of Representatives. A Democrat, he represented the 139th district from 2016 to 2025 and previously served on the Houston City Council. Early life and career Johnson grew up in Houston's Fifth Ward. In 1996, Johnson graduated from Texas Southern University with a degree in speech communications. In 1995, while in college, he became executive director of Phoenix Outreach Youth Center, ending his affiliation with them in 2005., the same year he was elected to the Houston City Council to represent District B. Political career Houston City Council (2005–2009) In 2005, Johnson ran for Houston City Council District B, a seat held by term limited Carol Mims Galloway. Concrete is a composite material composed of aggregate bound together with a fluid cement that cures to a solid over time. It is the second-most-used substance (after water), the most–widely used building material, and the most-manufactured material in the world. When aggregate is mixed with dry Portland cement and water, the mixture forms a fluid slurry that can be poured and molded into shape. The cement reacts with the water through a process called hydration, which hardens it after several hours to form a solid matrix that binds the materials together into a durable stone-like material with various uses. This time allows concrete to not only be cast in forms, but also to have a variety of tooled processes performed.
