Jarrod Uthoff
Jarrod Reed Uthoff (born May 19, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for the Kyoto Hannaryz of the Japanese B.League. He played three seasons of college basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes. High school career Uthoff starred at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, earning Iowa Mr. Basketball honors as the top high school player in the state as a senior in 2011. College career Uthoff committed to the University of Wisconsin, where he sat out the 2011–12 season as a redshirt. He decided to transfer in the off-season. His case received national press as Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan originally barred the player from transferring to 26 different schools. After heavy public scrutiny, Ryan reduced his restrictions to only cover the Big Ten Conference. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. The NCAA Men's Basketball All-American teams are teams made up of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball players voted the best in the country by a variety of organizations. Bo Ryan
William Francis "Bo" Ryan Jr. (born December 20, 1947) is an American former college basketball coach and player. He was the head coach of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Badgers men's basketball team from 2001 to December 2015. Ryan served as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville from 1984 to 1999 and at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee from 1999 to 2001. His overall collegiate coaching record was 747–233. Ryan was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. Playing career Ryan began playing basketball at a very young age. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section). 2014–15 Big Ten Conference Men%27s Basketball Season
The 2014–15 Big Ten men's basketball season began with practices in October 2014, followed by the start of the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. It marked the first season for Rutgers and Maryland in the Big Ten Conference. Wisconsin won the regular season title and the 2015 Big Ten Conference men's basketball tournament.
