Jaromír Nohavica
Jaromír Nohavica or Jarek Nohavica (born 7 June 1953, in Ostrava) is a Czech recording artist, songwriter, lyricist and poet. Early life He was born in Ostrava and has played guitar since he was 13. He began studies at the Technical University of Ostrava but eventually left the school. He tried various jobs, including as a freelance lyricist. He gained fame with his first song for Marie Rottrová, ''Lásko, voníš deštěm'' (You Smell of Rain, My Love; actually a cover version of the song ''She's Gone'' by Black Sabbath). He lives in Ostrava with his wife and two children. Career In 1982, he started performing in public, and his songs gained popularity. His first album, ''Darmoděj'' (The Wastrel), released in 1988, sold out immediately. A mythical aura arose around Nohavica which survived even the crisis period of his treatment for alcoholism. Divadlo Na Fidlovačce
Divadlo na Fidlovačce (Fidlovačka Theatre) is a private theatre based in Prague. The theatre is in a building located in Nusle, that was built as ''Thyl Theatre'' in 1921. Several ensembles performed in the theatre, that had itself several names. In 1978 the building was closed and started to deteriorate. In January 1995 the ''Nadace Fidlovačka'' foundation was established. The foundation, headed by actors Tomáš Töpfer and Eliška Balzerová, with the support of municipal government of the Prague 4 district managed to re-establish the theatre. The theatre opened with musical ''Fiddler on the Roof'' in October 1998. The performance, with Tomáš Töpfer as Tovye, was very successful, when the run of the musical ended in 2014. Michal Horáček (born 23 July 1952) is a Czech entrepreneur, lyricist, poet, writer, journalist and music producer. From 2007 until 2010, he was the chairman of the Czech Academy of Popular Music. He founded Czech betting company Fortuna. He stood to become Czech president in the 2018 presidential election, but came in 4th in the first round, failing to advance. 2018 presidential election In April 2016, Horáček announced his possible candidacy in the 2018 Czech presidential election. Pavel Kohout (born 20 July 1928) is a Czech and Austrian novelist, playwright, and poet. He was a member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, a Prague Spring participant and dissident in the 1970s until he was not allowed to return from Austria. Karel Kryl (12 April 1944 – 3 March 1994) was a Czechoslovak poet, singer-songwriter and author of many hit protest songs in which he explicitly criticized the Communist (and later also the post-communist) regimes in his home country for their hypocrisy and inhumanity. Jaroslav Hutka (born 21 April 1947 in Olomouc) is a Czech musician, composer, songwriter, and democracy and human rights activist. He was a signatory of Charter 77 and the 2008 Prague Declaration on European Conscience and Communism. Hutka left Czechoslovakia in October 1978 due to persecution from the Communist authorities, and lived in exile in the Netherlands.
