Jari Niemi
Jari Niemi (born 2 February 1977 in Nokia, Finland, Nokia) is a retired Finland, Finnish Association football, footballer. He has played for R.A.E.C. Mons (1910), R.A.E.C. Mons, Standard Liège and K. Sint-Truidense V.V. in Belgium. In the Finnish Veikkausliiga Niemi has also played for TPV Tampere, FC Haka and Tampere United, and has won five Finnish championships. During the second qualifying round of the 2007/2008 UEFA Champions League, Champions League edition, Niemi scored the only goal in Tampere's prestigious 1:0 away win against Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia. As Tampere had attained a 1:0 win in their home game, they became the first Finland, Finnish side to eliminate a Bulgarian club from the high-profile competition. Ilves (football)
Tampereen Ilves (; Finnish for "Lynx"; ), commonly known as Ilves, is a Finnish professional football club based in Tampere. They currently play in the Veikkausliiga, the highest level of professional football in Finland. History The history of Ilves football is long and somewhat convoluted. The club was founded in 1931 and played its first official football matches in the following year, playing in the local city and district leagues. The young club found it difficult to recruit exprienced players, however, and schoolboys who at the time made up the bulk of the membership often spent their summers in the country and were thus unavailable for matches. Thus the Ilves football team was disbanded in 1938 and the club concentrated on its other main sport, ice hockey. Veikkausliiga () is a professional association football league in Finland and the highest level of the Finnish football league system. The league comprises the top 12 clubs of the country. Its main sponsor is the Finnish national betting agency Veikkaus, hence the league's name. Veikkausliiga was founded in 1990; before that the top division was called ''Mestaruussarja'' (championship series) since 1930 which was an amateur or semi-professional league. Between 1908 and 1930 the championship was decided as a knock-out cup competition. Structure During the 1990 and 1991 seasons the Veikkausliiga was played under the name "Futisliiga" (). Belgian Cup
The Belgian Cup (; ; ) is the main knockout football competition in Belgium, run by the Royal Belgian FA. The competition started in 1908 with provincial selections as the "Belgian Provinces Cup".
