Japs Cuan
John Paul Cuan is a Filipino professional basketball coach and former collegiate player who is currently an assistant coach for the UST Growling Tigers of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Career Playing Cuan played for UST Growling Tigers under Pido Jarencio, and one of his notable years with the team was playing in the finals against Ateneo Blue Eagles in 2006. They won the finals series even though they lost in game 1, the championship was won, as the last was in 1996. In 2008,in only the third game of the Tigers, he suffered a torn meniscus on his knee which required surgery. He was able to return in the second round while playing limited minutes. Torn Meniscus
A tear of a meniscus is a rupturing of one or more of the fibrocartilage strips in the knee called menisci. When doctors and patients refer to "torn cartilage" in the knee, they actually may be referring to an injury to a meniscus at the top of one of the tibiae. Menisci can be torn during innocuous activities such as walking or squatting. They can also be torn by traumatic force encountered in sports or other forms of physical exertion. The traumatic action is most often a twisting movement at the knee while the leg is bent. In older adults, the meniscus can be damaged following prolonged 'wear and tear'. Especially acute injuries (typically in younger, more active patients) can lead to displaced tears which can cause mechanical symptoms such as clicking, catching, or locking during motion of the joint. Ronald "Mac" Cuan is a Filipino professional basketball coach and former collegiate player who is currently an assistant coach for the Iloilo United Royals in the MPBL. The De La Salle Green Archers are the collegiate men's basketball team of De La Salle University, which play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere sports league in the country. History La Salle was a pre-war founding member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in 1924. Philippine Basketball Association Draft
The Philippine Basketball Association draft is an annual event dating back to 1985 in which the twelve teams from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) can draft players who are eligible and wish to join the league. The draft usually takes place between October to December, during the league's off-season. No player may sign with the PBA until he has been eligible for at least one draft. However, foreign player-nationals of Filipino descent are ineligible for both the draft and the league if they are aged 31 years and up. Eligibility All players have to be natural-born Filipinos. UST Growling Tigers Basketball
The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
