Janith Liyanage
Kongala Liyanage Janith Vimukthi (born 12 July 1995), is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who currently plays limited overs cricket for the national team. He made his international debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team in February 2022. He is a past pupil of Lalith Ahulathmudali Maha Vidyalaya and St. Peter's College, Colombo. Domestic career He made his first-class debut for Ragama Cricket Club in the 2014–15 Premier Trophy on 16 January 2015. In March 2018, he was named in Galle's squad for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. The following month, he was also named in Galle's squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament. 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament
The 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament was a List A cricket tournament that was played in Sri Lanka between 2 May and 10 June 2018, following the conclusion of the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. Four teams took part in the competition: Colombo, Dambulla, Galle and Kandy. Galle and Colombo qualified for the final, after they finished first and second respectively in the group stage. The final was originally scheduled to take place on 20 May 2018, but Sri Lanka Cricket issued a statement via Twitter to say that it was postponed indefinitely due to bad weather. The final was eventually played on 10 June 2018, at the Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, after nearly a delay of one month. Galle won the tournament, after beating Colombo by 75 runs in the rescheduled final. 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup
The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the ninth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, co-hosted by Cricket West Indies and USA Cricket from 1 to 29 June 2024. It was the first major ICC tournament to include matches played in the United States. The West Indies had previously hosted the 2010 competition. A total of twenty teams competed in 55 matches across six venues in the West Indies, and three in the United States. The Sri Lanka cricket team toured Australia in February 2022 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. In May 2021, Cricket Australia confirmed the fixtures for the tour. In January 2022, Cricket Australia updated the tour schedule, to reduce the risks of COVID-19 by minimising travel across the country. Australia won the opening match by 20 runs, after a rain delay reduced Sri Lanka's innings to 19 overs. In January 2022, the International Cricket Council made changes to the T20I playing conditions, including an in-match penalty for a slow over rate. If the team who is fielding does not start to bowl their final over in the allocated time, they will only be allowed to have four fielders outside the inner circle, and not five. 2021 Lanka Premier League
The 2021 Lanka Premier League also known as Wolf777 News LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It took place from 5 to 23 December 2021. There were plans to increase the number of teams from five to six, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that five teams would take part, as per the first tournament. In June 2021, Charith Senanayake was appointed as the chairman of the LPL Technical Committee for the 2021 Lanka Premier League. In the same month, SLC agreed the termination of the Colombo Kings and the Dambulla Viiking teams due to financial issues. SLC also confirmed that two new franchise teams would replace them.
