Janina Orlov
Janina Maria Orlov (born 10 February 1955) is a Finnish-Swedish translator of literature. She took her PhD in the Russian language in 2005 at Åbo Akademi with a text about Pushkin's The Tale of Tsar Saltan. Orlov translates books from Russian and Finnish to Swedish and specializes in children's books and youth literature, but also regular literature. In 2015, Janina Orlov won a 15,000 Euro prize for her work with Finnish literature. The Tale Of Tsar Saltan
The Tale of Tsar Saltan, of His Son the Renowned and Mighty Bogatyr Prince Gvidon Saltanovich and of the Beautiful Swan-Princess ( ) is an 1831 fairy tale in verse by Alexander Pushkin. As a folk tale it is classified as Aarne–Thompson type 707, " The Three Golden Children", being a variation of The Dancing Water, the Singing Apple, and the Speaking Bird. Similar tales are found across the East Slavic countries and in the Baltic languages. Synopsis Three sisters talk amongst themselves around a spinning wheel and dream of what each of them would do if she suddenly became a queen. The first of them promises to throw a feast for the whole world; the second, to weave linen; and the third, to give birth to a hero for the Father-Tsar. Ulf Stark
Ulf Gottfrid Stark (12 July 1944 – 13 June 2017) was a Swedish author and screenwriter (he adapted several of his own books for film and wrote the screenplay for the 1999 film '' Tsatsiki, morsan och polisen''). Stark has collaborated with the illustrators Anna Höglund and Mati Lepp. From 1989 to 1998 he was an elected member of the Swedish Academy for Children's Books. In 1998 he received the Nordic Children's Book Prize. Career Stark was born and grew up in Stureby, Stockholm Municipality, which place features in several of his books. Stark's interest in writing started early; during his time at secondary school he was introduced to writing by his classmate , and in 1964 he wrote his first poetry collection, '. Following this, Stark's interest in writing for a career was greatly encouraged. Stark died on 13 June 2017 at the age of 72 after suffering from cancer.
