Janice Cole
Janice McKenzie Cole is an attorney who served as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina (1994–2001) under President Bill Clinton. During her tenure as U.S. Attorney, she helped introduce five communities to the United States Department of Justice's Weed and Seed crime-prevention program. Cole has been honored as Woman of the Year by the East Carolina University Branch of the American Association of University Women and Tarheel of the Week by The News and Observer. United States attorneys are officials of the U.S. Department of Justice who serve as the chief federal law enforcement officers in each of the 94 U.S. federal judicial districts.
