Jangchung-dong
Jangchung-dong () is a '' dong'' (neighborhood) of Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. Etymology The name Jangchung-dong originated from the Jangchungdan that was located in this area. Established in 1900, Jangchungdan was a place where ceremonies honoring loyal subjects and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country during the Eulmi Incident (the assassination of Empress Myeongseong) were held. On 1 October 1946, during the process of changing the Japanese-style neighborhood names to ones with deep Korean roots, this entire area was named 'Jangchung-dong'. Jung District () is one of the 25 List of districts of Seoul, districts of Seoul, South Korea. Hangul
The Korean alphabet is the modern writing system for the Korean language. In North Korea, the alphabet is known as (), and in South Korea, it is known as (). The letters for the five basic consonants reflect the shape of the speech organs used to pronounce them. They are systematically modified to indicate Phonetics, phonetic features. Guro District
Guro District () is one of the List of districts of Seoul, 25 districts of Seoul, South Korea, which was separated from Yeongdeungpo District on April 1, 1980. Located in the southwestern part of the city, where besides Yangcheon District and Geumcheon District, Guro District has an important position as a transport link which contains railroads, land routes from the rest of Seoul to the south of the country. Jangchungdan Park
Jangchungdan Park () is a park located in Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. It is to the northeast of the mountain Namsan. It contains the historic , which was built by Emperor Gojong in 1900 to memorialize Empress Myeongseong. The park has a children's baseball field, a tennis court, and a swimming pool. It is popular for walks and for exercise. It has a pine tree forest, with walking trails through it. Jangchung Gymnasium
The Jangchung Arena () is an indoor sporting arena located in Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. Volleyball teams GS Caltex Seoul Kixx and Seoul Woori Card Woori Won are the tenants. History At first, the arena was an army gymnasium, built on 23 June 1955. It was later fully reconstructed and opened on 1 February 1963. In 1966, the venue hosted a boxing match between Kim Ki-soo and Nino Benvenuti, where Kim became the first South Korean to win the boxing world championships. Hanja (; ), alternatively spelled Hancha, are Chinese characters used to write the Korean language. After characters were introduced to Korea to write Literary Chinese, they were adapted to write Korean as early as the Gojoseon period.
