Jang Mi-hee
Chang Mi-hee (; born 1958) is a South Korean actress. She was born Lee Yun-hui in Seoul, South Korea. Chang debuted as an actress in 1976 as starring in ''Seong Chun-hyang jeon'' directed by Park Tae-won and TBC TV drama, ''Haenyeo Dang-sil'' (Sea Woman Dang-sil). Chang was commonly referred to as "New Troika" or "Second Troika" along with her rival actresses, Jeong Yun-hui and Yu Ji-in of the 1970s and 1980s after the "First Troika", Moon Hee, Nam Jeong-im, and Yoon Jeong-hee of the 1960s. The Shaolin Drunken Monk
''The Shaolin Drunken Monk'' is a 1981 kung fu film directed by Au Yeung Chun and Lau Ka-Liang, and produced by Ocean Shores. Plot After a kung-fu master is killed by his students and his wife forced into suicide, their son (Lao Chung) must run for his life. Eventually, Lao discovers a hermit who has history in Shaolin and drunken kung-fu and is taught kung-fu. To avenge his parents, Lao kidnaps the daughter of one of the men who betrayed his father in hope of luring him out. Through the process of defeating his minions Lao befriends a one-handed fighter out for similar revenge, and the daughter falls in love with Lao. Lao and the one-handed man team-up in a final battle to the death. When the fight is over the daughter commits suicide in grievance of her father's past deeds, death & Lao's role in them both. ''Henequen'' () is a 1996 South Korean film directed by Kim Ho-sun (director), Kim Ho-sun. It was awarded Best Film at the Grand Bell Awards ceremony. Plot This historical drama, set in 1905, depicts the difficult plight of Korean henequen field laborers in Mexico. The story follows the love between the daughter of an aristocratic family fallen on hard times, and the son of a butcher. Background The film tells the story of Korean people who were brought to Yucatán under false promises of a good life, including wealthy Koreans, but were instead ended up forced to work as slaves by the Yucatán henequen industry landlords, which were proud Spanish descendants of the Yucatecan upper class. Yun Sim-deok
Yun Sim-deok (; 25 July 1897 – 4 August 1926) was a Korean singer. She was the country's first professional soprano. Life and career Yun was born in Pyongyang in 1897. She studied at the Pyongyang Girls' Middle and High Schools, and graduated from Kyongsong Women's Teaching College in Seoul in 1914. After graduation she became a primary school teacher in Wonju. After teaching for one year, Yun went to Japan, becoming the first Korean to study at the Tokyo Music School. In Japan, she met and fell in love with a married English literature student, Kim U-jin, with whom she had an affair. After graduating from music school, Yun returned to Korea, where she debuted as a soprano in 1923. Though audiences were impressed by her powerful voice, she was unable to make a living performing Western classical music, and became a pop singer and actress to support herself. Hwang Jin-ie
Hwang Jini or Hwang Jin-yi (; 1506–1567), also known by her ''kisaeng'' name Myeongwol ("bright moon", ), was one of the most famous ''kisaeng'' of the Joseon period. She lived during the reign of King Jungjong. She was noted for her exceptional beauty, charming quick wit, extraordinary intellect, and her assertive and independent nature. She has become an almost myth-like figure in modern Korea, inspiring novels, operas, films, and television series. A crater on Venus, Hwangcini, is named after her. Biography Hwang was born around 1506 to a politician's son, Hwang Jin-sa (), and a woman named Jin Hyeon-geum () who was either a ''kisaeng'' or of ''Cheonmin'' status.
