Jane Decker
Jane Ellen Decker Smith (born April 29, 1994), known by the stage name Jane Decker and formerly as simply Decker, is an American singer and songwriter from Cincinnati, Ohio. As a teenager, Decker fronted the bands Formulas and Belle Histoire, the latter of which was signed to InVogue Records. After Belle Histoire's dissolution, she appeared on ''The Voice'' in 2013, where she attracted attention despite not advancing, and subsequently began releasing solo music, including two EPs in 2015. Early life Born Jane Smith, Decker grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where her parents encouraged her to pursue music. At age ten, shortly after she'd begun writing songs, both of her parents were diagnosed with cancer, and her father died when she was 12; shortly afterward, she began recording her first songs, something her father had encouraged in his final months. ''AbsolutePunk'' was a website, online community, and alternative music news source founded by Jason Tate (the most recent CEO). The website mainly focused on artists who are relatively unknown to mainstream audiences, but it was known to feature artists who have eventually achieved crossover success, including Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, New Found Glory, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, The Gaslight Anthem, Anberlin, Thrice, All Time Low, Jack's Mannequin, Yellowcard, Paramore, Relient K, and A Day to Remember. Blind Audition
In a blind audition the identity of the performer is concealed from the judges so as to prevent bias. The performance takes place behind a curtain so that the judges cannot see the performer. Blind auditions have become standard in symphony orchestras. In the 1970's, jazz bassist and clinical psychologist Art Davis unsuccessfully filed suit against the New York Philharmonic for racial discrimination. Although his suit failed, his efforts been credited for helping pave the way to the current system of blind auditions for orchestras. In 1980, American trombonist Abbie Conant was selected in a blind audition as the overwhelming first choice for Principal Trombonist of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, but was subsequently subjected to sexism by the director Sergiu Celibidache. The Voice (American Season 4)
The fourth season of the American reality talent show '' The Voice'' premiered on March 25, 2013, on NBC and was hosted by Carson Daly, while Christina Milian returned as the social media correspondent. Coaches Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton returned as coaches, both for their fourth season. CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera appeared as performers instead of coaches. Mike Oberst is an American multinstrumentalist, musician, artist and songwriter based in Cincinnati, Ohio, who performs solo and as a member of the band, The Tillers, which he co-founded. As a solo artist he has released two albums (''Mike Oberst and His Five-String Banjo'' and ''Six Feet of Earth'') and appeared as a guest on Jean Dowell's album, ''A Place Way Back in Time'', which he produced. Fountain Square is a city square in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1871, it was renovated in 1971 and 2005 and currently features many shops, restaurants, hotels, and offices. History An Indian mound stood at the present site of Fountain Square when the first white settlers arrived. Fountain Square has been the symbolic center of Cincinnati since 1871. The square, which replaced a butcher's market, was a gift from Henry Probasco in memory of Tyler Davidson. Background Dwight Baker and Patricia Lynn played their first show on July 4, 2013, in Austin, Texas, opening for Bob Schneider. Plain White T's are an American rock band from Lombard, Illinois, formed in 1997 by high school friends Tom Higgenson, Dave Tirio, and Ken Fletcher, and joined a short time later by Steve Mast.
