Jana Hybášková
Jana Hybášková (born 26 June 1965 in Prague) is a Czech politician and diplomat, who currently serves as the Ambassador of the European Union in Namibia. She served as a Member of the European Parliament for the SNK European Democrats (part of the European People's Party) from 2004 to 2009, and as the Ambassador of the European Union in Iraq from 2011 to 2015. She was the chair of the European Democratic Party (EDS) from 2008 to 2010. Biography Hybášková graduated in Arabic at Charles University, earning a doctorate from the university's Faculty of Philosophy and Arts in 1989, and worked at the Foreign Ministry of Czechoslovakia and then the Czech Republic from 1991 to 1997. The Czech Republic, or simply Czechia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. World Movement For Democracy
World Movement for Democracy is an international network of individuals and organizations who share the common goal of promoting democracy. The World Movement was launched in February 1999 when the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and two nongovernmental organizations in India brought together a cross-section of democracy activists, practitioners, and scholars from over 80 countries in New Delhi for discussions of ways to advance democracy. The participants adopted a Founding Statement launching the World Movement "to strengthen democracy where it is weak, to reform and invigorate democracy even where it is longstanding, and to bolster pro-democracy groups in countries that have not yet entered into a process of democratic transition." The 2009 European Parliament election in the Czech Republic was the election of members of the European Parliament (MEPs) representing the Czech Republic for the 2004–2009 term of the European Parliament. The Cross of Merit of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic ( cz, Záslužný kříž ministra obrany České republiky) was established on 16 December 1996. The military decoration is presented in three classes, and was the highest award bestowed by the Minister of Defence until October 2008. The Institute for Information on the Crimes of Communism (IICC) ( sv, Upplysning om kommunismen, ''UOK'') is a Sweden-based non-profit and non-governmental human rights organization, founded in 2008, with the stated purpose of "spreading essential information on the crimes of communism and to promote vigilance against all totalitarian ideologies and antidemocratic movements". Martin Mejstřík (born 30 May 1962) is a Czech politician and human rights activist. Biography Mejstřík is notable for his role as a student leader during the Velvet Revolution that led to the ousting of the Communist regime in Czechoslovakia in November 1989. Prague Declaration On European Conscience And Communism
The Prague Declaration on European Conscience and Communism was a declaration which was initiated by the Czech government and signed on 3 June 2008 by prominent European politicians, former political prisoners and historians, among them former Czech President Václav Havel and future German President Joachim Gauck, calling for "Europe-wide condemnation of, and education about, the crimes of communism." Much of the content of the declaration reproduced demands formulated by the European People's Party in 2004, and draws heavily on the theory or conception of totalitarianism.
