Jan Šimbera
Jan Šimbera (born 3 November 1951) is a Czech former professional tennis player who competed for Czechoslovakia during the 1970s. He has served as team captain of the Czech Republic Fed Cup team, which included an appearance in the semi-finals in 2000. Šimbera won the Scandinavian Championships in 1975 and qualified for two grand slam singles main draws during his career. He debuted at the 1977 French Open, where he lost his first round match to Pavel Huťka in five sets. At the 1978 Wimbledon Championships he beat former quarter-finalist Charlie Pasarell during his qualifying run, then won his first round match over Andrew Jarrett Andrew Jarrett (born 9 January 1958) is a former professional tennis player from the United Kingdom. Charles Manuel Pasarell Jr. (born February 12, 1944) is a Puerto Ricans, Puerto Rican-American former tennis player, tennis administrator and founder of the current Indian Wells Open, Indian Wells tournament. He has also commented for the Tennis Channel and with Arthur Ashe and Sheridan Snyder formed the U.S. National Junior Tennis League, since renamed National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL). He was ten times ranked in the top ten of the U.S. and No. 1 in 1967 and world No. 11 in 1966. Pavel Huťka (born 28 February 1949) is a Czech former professional tennis player and current tennis trainer. The Scandinavian Indoor Championships also known as the Scandinavian Covered Court Championships and the Scandinavian Indoor Open was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament held from 1936 through 1979. History The tournament was created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Swedish Lawn Tennis Association and was first held on the indoor courts of the B-Hall in Stockholm. The location of the tournament alternated between the four Scandinavian capitals Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm and Oslo and the event was usually held at the end of January or the beginning of February.
