She was the 2015 winner of the Vicky Metcalf Award for Literature for Young People, a lifetime achievement award presented by the Writers' Trust of Canada, and won the Norma Fleck Award in 2007 for her book ''I Found a Dead Bird: The Kids’ Guide to the Cycle of Life & Death''. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art, Thornhill has illustrated many but not all of her own works. Sudbury, officially the City of Greater Sudbury, is the largest city in Northern Ontario by population, with a population of 166,004 at the 2021 Canadian Census. The ''Vancouver Sun'', also known as the ''Sun'', is a daily broadsheet newspaper based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The newspaper is currently published by the Pacific Newspaper Group, a division of Postmedia Network, and is the largest newspaper in western Canada by circulation. Since 2022, it is published five days a week from Tuesday to Saturday. The newspaper was first published on 12 February 1912.
