Jan Mikel
Jan Mikel (born 14 April 1975) is a Czech former ice hockey defenceman. Career Mikel played nine games for Vsetínská hokejová of the Czech Extraliga during the 2004–05 season. He had previously played in Italy's Serie A for SG Cortina and HC Milano Saima, the British Ice Hockey Superleague for the Ayr Scottish Eagles, the British National League for the Dundee Stars and the French Super 16 for Brest Albatros Hockey. Mikel returned to France in 2005 with Dragons de Rouen before playing the remainder of his career in the Czech 1. Liga for HC Kometa Brno and HC Olomouc HC Olomouc is a professional ice hockey team in the Czech Extraliga, from the city of Olomouc. They won the Extraliga championship in the 1993/1994 season. The 1994–95 Sunshine Hockey League season was the third season of the Sunshine Hockey League, a North American minor pro league. 1st Czech Republic Hockey League
The Maxa liga is the second-highest level of professional ice hockey in the Czech Republic, after the Czech Extraliga, Extraliga. It began in 1993 and is run and administered by Czech Ice Hockey Association. Until 2015, the league was known as the 1st Czech National Hockey League. It was then known as the WSM Liga until 2018, and the Chance Liga until 2024. Format (2023-24) In the first phase, every team plays each other four times—twice at home and twice away—which makes for a 52-game regular season. After the 52-game regular season, the first six teams directly qualify for the quarter-finals, while teams which placed 7 to 10 play a round-robin tournament, round-robin to determine the final two participants in the quarter-finals. HC Kometa Brno ("Comet" in English) is a professional ice hockey team based in Brno, Czech Republic. They play in the Czech Extraliga. Kometa is the most successful ice hockey club in the Czech Republic with 14 Czechoslovak (and Czech) league championship titles. A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. There can be a maximum of two assists per goal. In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team.
