Jan Malek
Jan Malek (born 16 November 2007) is a Polish chess grandmaster (2025). Chess career Jan Malek has won medals at the Polish Youth Chess Championships three times: gold in Sypniewo in 2022 (U16 age group), silver in Jastrzębia Góra in 2023 (U16 age group), gold in Stare Jabłonki in 2024 (U18 age group) Jan Malek has won Polish Youth Rapid Chess Championship in Wrocław in 2014 (U14 age group). He has also won Polish Youth Blitz Chess Championship in Rzeszów in 2022 (U16 age group). He represented Poland at European Youth Chess Championships (3 times), achieving his best result in 2023 in Mamaja (5th place at the U14 age group). He won bronze medal with Poland team in European Youth Chess Team Championship in the U18 age group. In 2023, he participated at the Polish Chess Championship. FIDE Titles
FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Titles generally require a combination of Elo rating and norms (performance benchmarks in competitions including other titled players). Once awarded, titles are held for life except in cases of fraud or cheating. Open titles may be earned by all players, while women's titles are restricted to female players. Grandmaster (chess)
Grandmaster (GM) is a Chess title, title awarded to chess players by the world chess organization FIDE. Apart from World Chess Championship, World Champion, Grandmaster is the highest title a chess player can attain. Once achieved, the title is held for life, though exceptionally the title can be revoked for Cheating in chess, cheating. The title of Grandmaster, along with the lesser FIDE titles of FIDE titles#International Master (IM), International Master (IM), FIDE titles#FIDE Master (FM), FIDE Master (FM), and FIDE titles#Candidate Master (CM), Candidate Master (CM), is open to all players regardless of gender. European Youth Chess Championship
The European Youth Chess Championship is organized by the European Chess Union (ECU) in groups under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 years old. Przeworsk
Przeworsk (; ; ) is a town in south-eastern Poland with 15,675 inhabitants, as of 2 June 2009. Since 1999 it has been in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, and is the capital of Przeworsk County. The ancient Przeworsk culture was named after the town. Przeworsk was a settlement since the 10th century, though evidence of human settlement in the general area is even older.
