Jan Jacobsz Graeff
Jan Jacobsz Graeff (1570/75 - Alblasserdam, after 1620) belonged to the Dutch Patrician (post-Roman Europe), patrician class, and was a member of the executive board of the Zijpe water board. Biography Origin Jan Jacobsz Graeff founded the Alblasserdam branch of the De Graeff family. He was a son of Jacob Jansz Graeff (died 1580) and Geertge Claes Coppensdr van Ouder Amstel, and a grandson of Jan Pietersz Graeff. He had three siblings. His sister Styntje (Stijntje) Jacobsdr Graeff married to Hendrik Stuijver, Lord of Ravensberg (died 1590), and afterwards to Herman Roswinkel. Beside his full brother Claes Jacobsz Graeff he had another brother from an illegitimate relationship of his father, Adriaan Jacobsz Graeff, who had descendants, who are said to have moved to Prussia, Saxony and Austria. Alblasserdam () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It covers an area of , of which is water, and has a population of as of . Dirk De Graeff Van Polsbroek
Jhr. Dirk de Graeff van Polsbroek (born ''Dirk de Graeff''; named also ''Van Polsbroek'' or ''Polsbroek'') (Amsterdam, 28 August 1833 – 27 June 1916, The Hague) was a Dutch aristocrat, merchant and diplomat. Between 1863 and 1868 he was Dutch Consul General and then until 1870 Dutch Minister-Resident and de facto envoy to Japan. Since no ambassadors were planned at that time, his legation fulfilled the same task. De Graeff van Polsbroek was an important representative of the Dutch government who laid the foundation for modern diplomatic representation in Japan and the first diplomat with permanent residence in Japan (comparable to a modern ambassador). The Boelens (also ''Boel'') and Boelens Loen were a Dutch patrician family of Amsterdam. The family figured in the city's government lists between the years 1360 and 1680. They were considered to be quite an influential Amsterdam family in their time and were intensely involved in the history of their hometown. Between 1495 and 1538 the oligarchy of the so-called ''Boelen-Heijnen clan'' was at the forefront of the Amsterdam city government.
