Jan Høiland
Jan Høiland (6 February 1939, Stavanger, Norway – 7 June 2017, Sweden) was a Norwegian singer, who lived for many years in Harstad. The song " Tiotusen röda rosor" by Thore Skogman was Høiland's biggest hit. He scored several chart successes in Norway. Festival Of North Norway
The Arctic Arts Festival ( no, Festspillene i Nord-Norge) is a festival based in Harstad, Norway. It was first held in 1965, and consists of music, theatre and art performances. The festival lasts one week and is held in June. The Arctic Arts Festival is active throughout the year and has arranged annual festivals in Harstad since 1965. From 1995 to 2015 the festival was acknowledged as a festival of national importance, called "knutepunktfestival", and received funding through the government budget. The Arctic Arts Festival is made possible through various sources of funding from the Norwegian state, Finnmark, Troms and Nordland regional councils, as well as the local Harstad council. "Tiotusen röda rosor" is a song written by Thore Skogman. Recorded by Jan Høiland, it was released as a 1967 single (Polydor NH59747), and became a Svensktoppen hit charting for six weeks between 17 March-21 April 1968, which included the song topping the chart. The song has also been recorded by dansbands like Curt Haagers (on 1983 album ''Guld och gröna skogar''). and Vikingarna (1988, acting as a B-side for the single ''Tredje gången gillt'') In 1995, a heavy metal version was recorded by Black-Ingvars on the album " Earcandy Six". Thore Skogman
Elof Lars "Thore" Skogman (9 March 1931 – 9 December 2007) was a popular Swedish singer, songwriter, actor and entertainer. Skogman was born in Hallstahammar, Sweden. While working as an accountant and sales manager during the 1950s, he made his debut recording in 1955, devoted his full-time to singing by 1961, and came third in Sweden's national song contest Melodifestivalen in 1963. In the 1960s he wrote "Fröken Fräken" (literally: ''Miss Freckle'') that became one of his most successful hits. Skogman also wrote songs for other Swedish and Scandinavian artists.
