Jan Friis-Mikkelsen
Jan Friis-Mikkelsen (born 26 February 1963) is a Danish chef and restaurateur. He was also judge on DR1's ''Den Store Bagedyst'', the Danish version of The Great British Bake Off. Career Jan Friis Mikkelsen was born in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen. He trained as a chef in France. In 1987, he opened Restaurant Tinggården in Asserbo outside Frederiksværk. The restaurant is based in a three-winged farmhouse from 1702. Friis-Mikkelsen first appeared on television as Claus Meyer's co-host in the DR1 cooking show ''Meyers Køkken'' ("Meyer's Cuisine") in the 1990s. In 2012-2016 he has appeared as judge alongside Mette Blomsterberg on ''Den Store Bagedyst''. He is also involved in the production of cherry wines on the Frederiksdal Estate on Lolland. The Great British Bake Off
''The Great British Bake Off'' (often abbreviated to ''Bake Off'' or ''GBBO'') is a British television baking competition, produced by Love Productions, in which a group of amateur bakers compete against each other in a series of rounds, attempting to impress two judges with their baking skills. One contestant is eliminated in each round, and the winner is selected from the three contestants who reach the final. The first episode was aired on 17 August 2010, with its first four series broadcast on BBC Two, until its growing popularity led the BBC to move it to BBC One for the next three series. After its seventh series, Love Productions signed a three-year deal with Channel 4 to produce the series for the broadcaster. On 24 September 2024 it was announced that ''The Great British Bake Off'' has been renewed for its sixteenth series in 2025. Frederiksværk
Frederiksværk is a town with a population of 12,837 (1 January 2025) in Halsnæs Municipality on Zealand in Region Hovedstaden in Denmark. History A French cannon founder, Peyrembert, received permission to build a cannon factory here. Having gotten into difficulties, King Frederik V requested that his chancellery advisor, Johan Frederik Classen, take over the operation of the foundry. Under Classen's management the town blossomed, and there came a gunpowder mill, as well as light industry and handicrafts to the town. This resulted in Classen's being appointed major general. On 25 August 1756 the king issued a document permitting Classen to call the town "Friederichswerk". Classen was allowed to build a new foundry, Gjethuset, and it was constructed between 1761 and 1767. It has been used as a cannon foundry until 1928, and has been used for heavy industry until 1976. Claus Meyer
Claus Meyer (born 27 December 1963) is a Danish entrepreneur, cook and television host. He is often accredited as the founder of the New Nordic Cuisine philosophy. Projects Claus Meyer has been engaged in a plethora of projects and has been a popular mediator of food culture in both Denmark and internationally for many years. Meyer is often accredited as the sole founder of the New Nordic Cuisine philosophy, but regardless of his obvious and groundbreaking contribution, mediation and writing on the subject, other people have also contributed to the philosophy and materialised it in practice. Mette Blomsterberg
Mette Jæger Blomsterberg (born 20 July 1970) is a Danish pastry chef, restaurateur and cookbook writer. She has been a judge in the television programme ''Den store bagedyst'', the Danish equivalent of The Great British Bake Off. Biography Born in Helsingør in 1970, Blomsterberg was trained as a pastry cook at Kransekagehuset, a Copenhagen bakery. She is married to Henrik Jæger whom she met in Helsingør in 1992. They have two children. Henrik, who has changed his name to Blomsterberg, works with his wife in the café they established in Lyngby in 2014.
