Jan De Visscher
Jan de Visscher (ca.1636, Haarlem – 1692-1712, Amsterdam), was a Dutch Golden Age engraver who became a painter in later life. Biography According to Houbraken he was an able etcher who made famous prints (in his lifetime) after the works of Philips Wouwerman and Nicolaes Pietersz Berchem, and who became an able pupil of the landscape painter Michiel Carrée aged 56. Houbraken spoke to Michiel Carrée personally about his art, who claimed that Visscher became as good as he was at Italianate landscapes. No paintings by Visscher's hand are known today, but he made many prints after various famous painters from Haarlem such as Berchem, Adriaen van Ostade, Jan van Goyen, and his brother Cornelis. Houbraken mentioned Jan Visser from Haarlem with the nickname ''Slempop'' at another point in his book, in his biographical sketch of "P. Molyn", son of Pieter de Molijn. Jan Josephszoon van Goyen (; 13 January 1596 – 27 April 1656) was a Dutch landscape painter. The scope of his landscape subjects was very broad as he painted forest landscapes, marine paintings, river landscapes, beach scenes, winter landscapes, cityscapes, architectural views and landscapes with peasants. Dutch Golden Age painting is the painting of the Dutch Golden Age, a period in Dutch history roughly spanning the 17th century, during and after the later part of the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) for Dutch independence. The new Dutch Republic was the most prosperous nation in Europe and led European trade, science, and art. The northern Terminology of the Low Countries, Netherlandish provinces that made up the new state had traditionally been less important artistic centres than cities in Flanders in the south. Pieter De Molijn
Pieter de Molijn (6 April 1595 in London – 23 March 1661 in Haarlem) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and engraver of English birth and Flemish descent. He was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Austin Friars church in London. He was born to Pieter de Moijn, from Ghent, and Lynken van den Bossche, from Brussels. It is possible that the family emigrated due to business rather than religious persecution. Little is known of his early training, but he probably traveled to Italy and in 1616 he became a member of the Haarlem Guild of St. Luke. He was a contemporary of Jacob Pinas. He married Geertuyt Huygen de Bie. During the years 1616–27 he lived in Delft where he remarried after his first wife died.
