Persian Phonology
The phonology of the Persian language varies between regional dialects and standard varieties. Persian is a pluricentric language and countries that have Persian as an official language have separate standard varieties, namely: Standard Dari (Afghanistan), Standard Iranian Persian (Iran) and Standard Tajik (Tajikistan). The most significant differences between standard varieties of Persian are their vowel systems. Standard varieties of Persian have anywhere from 6 to 8 vowel distinctions, and similar vowels may be pronounced differently between standards. However, there are not many notable differences when comparing consonants, as all standard varieties have a similar number of consonant sounds. Though, colloquial varieties generally have more differences than their standard counterparts. Most dialects feature contrastive stress and syllable-final consonant clusters. Jamshid "Jimmy" Delshad () is an Iranian-American politician in the state of California. He became Mayor of Beverly Hills on March 21, 2007 when he was sworn in by Fred Hayman, and again on March 16, 2010. He is the first Iranian-American to hold public office in Beverly Hills. Biography Delshad was born to a Jewish family in Shiraz. He left Iran in 1959 and came to the United States with his brothers. Junaid Jamshed
Junaid Jamshed Khan (3 September 1964 – 7 December 2016) was a Pakistani Islamic preacher, singer-songwriter and television personality. Jamshed first gained nationwide and international recognition as the vocalist of Vital Signs. Their 1987 album, '' Vital Signs 1'' included the hit singles " Dil Dil Pakistan", and "Tum Mil Gaye". The commercial success of the album helped develop Pakistan's rock music industry. In 1994, he released his debut solo album, ''Junaid of Vital Signs'' followed by '' Us Rah Par'' in 1999 and '' Dil Ki Baat'' in 2002. In 2004, Jamshed left both his engineering and music careers and, after being influenced by the Tablighi Jamaat of Deobandis, focused on his religious activities for Islam and reciting nasheeds on TV and releasing them on CDs. Jamshid bin Abdullah Al Busaidi, (; 16 September 1929 – 30 December 2024) was a Zanzibari royal who was the last reigning Sultan of Zanzibar. He was deposed in the Zanzibar Revolution, after the United Kingdom gave up its British protectorate. Early life Sultan Jamshid was born in Zanzibar Town, Zanzibar on 16 September 1929. He was educated in Alexandria and Beirut. He also served in the British Royal Navy for 2 years, gaining leadership experience before undertaking administrative roles under his grandfather, Sultan Khalifa bin Harub. Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata (3 March 1839 – 19 May 1904) was an Indian industrialist and philanthropist who founded the Tata Group, India's largest conglomerate. He established the city of Jamshedpur. Born into a Zoroastrian Parsi family in Navsari, his family came from Persia (Iran), finding refuge in India. Jamshid Sharmahd (; 23 March 1955 – 28 October 2024) was a German national and software engineer, based in Los Angeles, California. A permanent resident of the United States from 2003, Sharmahd had been targeted by the Iranian government for his connections to Tondar, an Iranian monarchist group engaging in violent attacks. He was abducted by Iranian agents in a forced disappearance in 2020. In a 2023 trial condemned by Amnesty International, Germany, the United States, and the European Council, Sharmahd was sentenced to death. Jamshid Yeganeh Nassiri (born 23 February 1959 in Khorramshahr) is an Iranian-Indian football manager and former footballer, who is currently the head coach of the Calcutta Premier Division side Calcutta FC. Nassiri is known for forming a successful attacking duo with Majid Bishkar in the 1980s. He was one of the most expensive players in Indian football during his playing days and is the first foreign player to score 100 goals across several tournaments in the country. Jamshid Jafargulu oglu Nakhchivanski (; August 23, 1895 – August 26, 1938), also known as Jamshid Khan Nakhichevanski, was a Russian Imperial, Azerbaijani and Soviet military commander. He rose to the rank of Combrig (equivalent to Brigadier General) in the Soviet Army. Jamshid Momtaz (born 18 June 1942 in İzmir) is an Iranian jurist and academic. He earned his degree in public law at the Faculty of Law and Economy from University of Paris (1966). Ghiyāth al-Dīn Jamshīd Masʿūd al-Kāshī (or al-Kāshānī) ( ''Ghiyās-ud-dīn Jamshīd Kāshānī'') (c. 1380 Kashan, Iran – 22 June 1429 Samarkand, Transoxiana) was a Persian astronomer and mathematician during the reign of Tamerlane.
