Jamieson Line Border Crossing
Jamieson Line is a closed border crossing connecting Athelstan, Quebec to Burke, New York on the Canada–US border. Canada closed its port of entry on April 1, 2011, and tore down its border inspection station in 2012. The US Customs and Border Protection closed its port of entry on August 21, 2014. Burke, New York
Burke is a town in Franklin County, New York, United States. The population was 1,465 at the 2010 census. The town is in the northeastern part of the county, northeast of Malone, the county seat. The town contains a village also named Burke. History The town was first settled prior to 1800. The area was known as "West Chateaugay," and was proposed to be the town of "Birney," but the name "Burke" was selected instead, presumably for Edmund Burke, the British statesman. The town of Burke was formed in 1844 from the town of Chateaugay. Almanzo Wilder, often thought to be a native of nearby Malone, actually grew up on a farm in Burke.
