Jamie Delano
Jamie Delano ( ; born 1954) is an English comic book writer. He was part of the first post-Alan Moore "British Invasion" of writers which started to feature in American comics in the 1980s. He is best known as the first writer of the comic book series ''Hellblazer'', featuring John Constantine. Biography Jamie Delano wrote all but three of the first forty issues of ''Hellblazer'' for DC Comics from 1988 to 1991. Most of his other work has also been for DC/Vertigo. Much of Delano's work can be characterised as science fiction, or horror, but often is a blend thereof. Subjects in his work include the battle of the sexes (''World Without End''), imperialism and genocide (''Ghostdancing''), and environmental and cultural collapse ('' 2020 Visions'', '' Animal Man''). Northampton ( ) is a town and civil parish in Northamptonshire, England. Marvel UK was an imprint (trade name), imprint of Marvel Comics formed in 1972 to reprint United States of America, US-produced stories for the United Kingdom, British weekly comic market. Marvel UK later produced original material by British creators such as Alan Moore, John Wagner, Dave Gibbons, Steve Dillon, and Grant Morrison. John Ridgway (comics)
John Ridgway (born 4 May 1940) is an English comic book artist. He is best known as the first artist of the comic book series ''Hellblazer'', featuring John Constantine. Career Ridgway began his career initially as a hobby, drawing D.C.Thompson's Commando War Stories alongside professional work as a design engineer. In 1984 Ridgway became a full-time professional, broadening his employment to include ''2000 AD'', Guttenberghus, Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Ridgway's full-colour work is immediately distinctive for its unusual realism coupled with a delicate, sketchy pencil line, the two combining to give a slightly old-fashioned look influenced strongly by classic British artist Frank Hampson. John Bolton (born 23 May 1951) is a British comic book artist and illustrator most known for his dense, painted style, which often verges on photorealism. He was one of the first British artists to come to work in the American comics industry, a phenomenon which took root in the late 1980s and has since become standard practice. Barry Kitson is a British comic book artist. Biography Kitson's first professional work was ''Spider-Man'' for Marvel UK. He also drew many stories for '' 2000 AD'', beginning with a "Future Shocks" tale written by Peter Milligan as well as others by Grant Morrison, and going on to achieve great acclaim with his detailed work on Judge Anderson written by Alan Grant. ''Tharg's Future Shocks'' is a long-running series of short strips appearing in the British weekly comic '' 2000 AD'' since 1977. The name originates from the fictional editor of 2000 AD and the book titled ''Future Shock'', written by Alvin Toffler, published in 1970. Publishing history The series began in issue 25 of ''2000 AD'' titled "Tharg's Future Shocks" in a single short story written by Steve Moore, who also created the format. This established the pattern of the series which would be two- or three-page short stories, which were normally self-contained.
