Jamie Davis (musician)
James Lee Davis III (born September 3, 1983) is an American country/soul/Southern rock musician. He is best known as lead singer, guitarist, and principal songwriter of Jamie Davis & Soul Gravy, the band notable for its 2006 single "Mississippi Moonshine". Personal life He was born as James Lee Davis III in Tupelo, Mississippi, and grew up in Booneville. He is the eldest of three children born to Angela Cook Hughes and James "Jim" Davis, Jr. He attended Northeast Community College and Mississippi State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business. Davis is a Republican, although he supported then-Congressman Travis Childers (D-MS) in 2008. He was married in October 2013 to Maria Davis and has two children. Tupelo, Mississippi
Tupelo () is a city in and the county seat of Lee County, Mississippi, United States. With an estimated population of 38,300, Tupelo is the sixth-largest city in Mississippi and is considered a commercial, industrial, and cultural hub of North Mississippi. Tupelo was incorporated in 1866. The area had earlier been settled as "Gum Pond" along the Mobile and Ohio Railroad. On February 7, 1934, Tupelo became the first city to receive power from the Tennessee Valley Authority, thus giving it the nickname "The First TVA City". Saving Abel is an American rock band from Corinth, Mississippi, founded in 2004 by Jared Weeks and Jason Null. The band is named after the biblical story of Cain and Abel, in which a man named Cain kills his brother Abel. Band member Jason Null thought up the band title saying "I Googled the story of Cain and Abel and found a line about 'there was no saving Abel,' which just jumped out at me." Lead singer Jared Weeks left the band at the end of 2013 to pursue a solo career, but returned in 2021, replacing Scott Austin.
