James Van Hise
James Van Hise (born 1949) is an American popular culture historian and comic book author. He had a long connection with the popular fanzine ''Rocket's Blast Comicollector'' (''RBCC''), and was its editor/publisher from 1974 to 1983. He also had a lengthy association with Hal Schuster, owner of New Media Publishing and Pioneer Books. Van Hise is the author of more than ten books, many of them published by Pioneer Books. Career Van Hise's first published works were in the ranks of fandom. He (along with Larry Bigman) wrote the ''Al Williamson Collector'' column for ''RBCC'' in the early 1970s. In 1974, Van Hise became editor and publisher of ''RBCC''. He introduced new features and columns to the zine, freshening its aesthetic for new audiences. Rocket's Blast Comicollector
''Rocket's Blast Comicollector'' (''RBCC'') was a comics advertising fanzine published from 1964 to 1983. The result of a merger with a similar publication, ''RBCCs purpose was to bring fans together for the purpose of adding to their comic book collections. It also proved to be a launching pad for aspiring comic book creators, many of whom corresponded and exchanged their work through ''RBCC'', and published work in the fanzine as amateurs. ''RBCC'' featured fan-generated art, original articles, and advertisements from comic book fans and dealers. Debuting in the pre-direct market era (before the proliferation of comics retailers), ''RBCC'' was one of the first and largest forums for buying and selling comics through the mail — often, the only way for fans to acquire back issues was through advertisements in ''RBCC''. Michael Kaluta
Michael William Kaluta, sometimes credited as Mike Kaluta or Michael Wm. Kaluta (born August 25, 1947), is an American comics artist and writer best known for his acclaimed 1970s adaptation of the pulp magazine hero ''The Shadow'' with writer Dennis O'Neil. He is the godfather of comedian and gamemaster Brennan Lee Mulligan. Early life Born in Guatemala to U.S. citizens, Kaluta studied at the Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University). ''Fright Night'' is a 1988 comic book series published by Now Comics. It is based on the 1985 film ''Fright Night''. The first two issues simply adapt the film, but after that the plots are original. Plot Charley Brewster is an average teenager who finds his world turned upside-down when vampire Jerry Dandrige moves in next door. He enlists the aid of horror movie star/TV host Peter Vincent to kill Dandrige and they're successful—but not before Charley's best friend, Evil Ed, is transformed into a bloodthirsty monster who delights in tormenting his former buddy. ''The Real Ghostbusters'' is a comic series spun off from ''The Real Ghostbusters'' animated series. Versions were published by Marvel UK and NOW Comics. Publication of the series began on March 28, 1988. Publication history NOW Comics NOW Comics began publishing the series in August 1988. The series ran for two volumes, two annuals and one special. The first volume ran for twenty-eight issues. Forrest James Ackerman (November 24, 1916 – December 4, 2008) was an American magazine editor; science fiction writer, and literary agent; a founder of science fiction fandom; a leading expert on science fiction, horror, and fantasy films; a prominent advocate of the Esperanto language; and one of the world's most avid collectors of genre books and film memorabilia.
