James R. Mathes
James Robert Mathes was the fourth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. After studies at Sewanee: The University of the South and Virginia Theological Seminary, Mathes was ordained to the diaconate in 1991 and to the priesthood in 1992. He was consecrated on March 5, 2005, by Gary Richard Lillibridge, Richard Sui On Chang and his predecessors, Robert M. Wolterstorff and Gethin Benwil Hughes. He resigned effective July 1, 2017. Richard Sui On Chang
Richard Sui On Chang (November 30, 1941 – August 30, 2017) was bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii from 1997 to 2006. Early life and education He was born on November 30, 1941, in Honolulu in the then Territory of Hawaii. Chang’s studied at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. He then earned a Master of Divinity from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in 1966. That same year, on March 5, he was ordained deacon and then priest on September 4, by the Bishop of Hawaii Harry S. Kennedy. Gary Richard Lillibridge (born May 2, 1956) is an American Episcopal bishop. He was the ninth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. Early life and education Lillibridge was born on May 2, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas, United States. He was raised as an Episcopalian. He studied education at Southwest Texas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 1978. He trained for ordination at the Virginia Theological Seminary, and graduated in 1982 with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree.
