James Keith Fraser
Lieutenant-General James Keith Fraser (20 September 1832 – 30 July 1895) was a British Army officer. Early life Fraser was born on 20 September 1832. He was the third son of Lt.-Col. James John Fraser, Sir James John Fraser, 3rd Baronet and the former Charlotte Anne Craufurd. He had two elder brothers, Sir William Fraser, 4th Baronet, an MP for Barnstaple (UK Parliament constituency), Barnstaple, and Lt.-Gen. Sir Charles Craufurd Fraser, ''aide-de-camp'' to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. His paternal grandparents were Sir William Fraser, 1st Baronet, and the former Elizabeth Farquharson (a daughter of merchant James Farquharson, of London). His maternal grandparents were Daniel Craufurd (a son of Sir Alexander Craufurd, 1st Baronet) and Bridget Holland (a daughter of architect Henry Holland (architect), Henry Holland). Burke's Peerage Limited is a British genealogical publisher founded in 1826, when the Irish genealogist John Burke began releasing books devoted to the ancestry and heraldry of the peerage, baronetage, knightage and landed gentry of Great Britain and Ireland. George William Frederick Villiers, 4th Earl of Clarendon, (12 January 180027 June 1870) was an English diplomat and statesman from the Villiers family. He served as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs three times as part of a distinguished diplomatic career. He was the leading British representative at the Congress of Paris which ended the Crimean War. Background and education Villiers was born in London, the son of George Villiers and Theresa Parker. He went up to Cambridge at the early age of sixteen and entered St John's College on 29 June 1816. In 1820, as the eldest son of an earl's brother with royal descent, he was able to take his MA degree under the statutes of the university then in force. Sir Francis Hyde Villiers (13 August 1852 – 18 November 1925) was a British civil servant and diplomat who was ambassador to Portugal and Belgium. Career The youngest son of George Villiers, 4th Earl of Clarendon, Francis Villiers was educated at Harrow School and entered the Foreign Office in 1870. He was appointed Acting Second Secretary in the Diplomatic Service in 1885, and served as Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary, Lord Rosebery, in 1886 and 1892–94, and Acting Private Secretary to Lord Salisbury in 1887. From 1896 to 1905 he was Assistant Under Secretary at the Foreign Office. In 1906 he was appointed to be Minister to Portugal, and in 1911 he was transferred to be Minister to Belgium. Major Sir Keith Alexander Fraser, 5th Baronet (1867–1935) was a British cavalry officer, and a Conservative Member of Parliament for Harborough from 1918 until 1923. Biography Keith Fraser was born in 1867. He was the son of General James Keith Fraser (the third son of Sir James John Fraser, 3rd Baronet (d. 1834)), and his wife Amelia Alice Julia (daughter of the Humble Dudley Ward). He was educated at Eaton. Fraser joined the 7th Queen's Own Hussars and as a captain saw active service with his regiment in Southern Africa.
