James Giller
James Frederick Giller (1 May 1870 – 13 June 1947) was an Australian cricketer. He played first-class cricket for Victoria between 1897 and 1905. An opening batsman and medium-paced bowler, Giller was one of Victoria's leading players in the 1898-99 Sheffield Shield, with 325 runs at an average of 46.42 and 12 wickets at 14.00. He played in the three trial matches, Australian XI versus The Rest, at the end of the season to help the selectors choose the team to tour England that year, but was not successful. He made his highest score of 125 in his final first-class match, against New South Wales in 1904-05. His best figures were 7 for 51 against South Australia in 1898-99, when he also scored 116 in the same match. Giller represented South Melbourne in Melbourne district cricket. South Melbourne Cricket Club
The Casey-South Melbourne Cricket Club is a cricket club located in the outer south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Cranbourne East, which plays in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition. Founded in 1862 as South Melbourne, it has produced nine Australian Test captains, more than any other cricket club in Australia. 47 international players have represented the club, eight of whom have been listed as a ''Wisden'' “ Cricketer of the Year”. The club played at the South Melbourne Cricket Ground in Albert Park until 1994, when the ground was redeveloped into a soccer stadium. At this point, the club considered merging with St Kilda, but this proposal was voted down by the members and instead the club moved onto the Harry Trott Oval, also located in Albert Park. Victorian Premier Cricket
Victorian Premier Cricket is the highest level club cricket competition in the state of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, administered by Cricket Victoria. Each club fields four teams (firsts through to fourths) of adult players and usually play on Saturdays and public holidays. Matches are played on turf wickets. The competition commenced in the 1906–07 season when it was known as "district cricket" with players allocated to their clubs based on residential qualifications. The district qualification has since been removed and competition was renamed in 1990. Throughout the majority of its history, the competition was played under two-day, two-innings-per-side rules, with most results being decided on a first-innings basis. Albert Park is an inner suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south of Melbourne's Central Business District. The suburb is named after Albert Park, a large lakeside urban park located within the City of Port Phillip local government area. Albert Park recorded a population of 6,044 at the 2021 census.
