James Forsyth (Australian Politician)
James Forsyth (1852 – 14 October 1927) was a company director and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early days Forsyth was born in West Plean, Stirling, Scotland, to parents John Forsyth, farmer, and his wife Janet (née Munnock). After receiving his education in West Plean he worked for Henderson Bros, Merchants in Stirling and spent five years with Arnott and Co. in Glasgow. He arrived in Sydney in early 1875 where he stayed almost a year, moving to Brisbane in December of the same year. In 1880 he was the manager at Normanton for James Burns & Co. and was mainly responsible for the company's expansion in the North Queensland area. When the businesses of Burns and Robert Philp were amalgamated in 1883, he became a director of Burns Philp. James Forsyth (college President)
James Forsyth (September 8, 1817 – August 10, 1886) was an attorney, businessman, and the seventh president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was born in Peru, New York. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1839 where he was a founding member of the Lambda Iota Society. He was admitted to the bar in 1842. The following year, he moved to Troy, New York where he practiced law, and was a director and counsel of several local banks and companies. He was a founder and trustee of the Union Trust Company of New York, and President of the Troy & West Troy Bridge Company. He also served as a judge and a member of the Board of Enrollment in Rensselaer County. James Forsyth (sculptor)
James Forsyth (1827–1910) was a Scottish sculptor, best remembered for various fountains designed for William Ward, 1st Earl of Dudley (1817–1885) at Witley Court, Worcestershire, England, and in the town of Dudley. He was born in Kelso, Scotland, a son of Adam Forsyth, a mason. Notable works Fountains, Witley Court Two immense fountains at Witley Court were designed by William Andrew Nesfield and executed by James Forsyth and his brother William Forsyth, who were carrying out sculpture in the house and the church. James Forsyth (traveller)
James Forsyth (1838–1871) was an English traveller in India. Life After receiving a university education in England, and taking his degree of M.A., Forsyth entered the civil service of the East India Company, and went out to India as assistant conservator and acting conservator of forests. In a short time he was appointed settlement officer and deputy-commissioner of Nimar, and served under Sir Richard Temple, 1st Baronet, Chief Commissioner of the Central Provinces. James Bell Forsyth
James Bell Forsyth (25 December 1802 – 1 April 1869), was a prominent Quebec merchant and author. In 1831, he built the Cataraqui Estate in Sillery, on Saint-Louis Road. Background Born at Kingston, Upper Canada, he was the second son of Joseph Forsyth (1764–1813) and his wife Alicia, daughter of Major James Robbins of the Royal Artillery. Jim Forsyth
James Forsyth (born 23 July 1944) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also played with West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League. Forsyth began his career at Essendon, where he arrived to from Thorpdale. A ruckman, he struggled to get regular games with the strong Essendon side of the 1960s but did take part in their 1966 finals campaign. He went to West Torrens in 1968 and the same year represented South Australia in an interstate match against Western Australia. Forsyth was also a member of the South Australian interstate squad for the 1969 Adelaide Carnival, although he didn't get a game. He left West Torrens to play for Yarrawonga, in 1971 and 1972. James Forsyth (18 October 1904 – 1982) was a Scottish football player, trainer and physiotherapist, who made more than 350 appearances in the Football League playing as a left half or inside left for Portsmouth, Gillingham and Millwall. Born in Armadale, West Lothian, he began his playing career in his native Scotland with Armadale and Bathgate, and finally retired from playing in 1943 to become assistant trainer of Millwall.
