	James Connors (Medal Of Honor) James Connors (1838 – unknown) was an Irish born Union Army soldier during the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor for gallantry during the Battle of Fisher's Hill near Strasburg, Virginia fought 21–22 September 1864. The battle was one of the engagements of the Valley Campaigns of 1864. Connors enlisted in the Army from Canajoharie, New York in August 1861, and mustered out with his regiment in June 1865. Medal of Honor citation "The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private James Connors, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 22 September 1864, while serving with Company E, 43d New York Infantry, in action at Fisher's Hill, Virginia, for capture of flag." 	Jim Connors James Patrick Connors (born October 1946) is an American politician who served as the 28th Mayor of Scranton, Pennsylvania, for twelve years from 1990 until 2002. Career Connors worked as Scranton's Director of Community Development for four years prior becoming mayor in 1990. Connors switched his party affiliation from Democratic to Republican prior to running for Mayor of Scranton in 1989. He won the 1989 mayoral election, defeating Democrat Jerry Notarianni to win the first of three consecutive terms. Connors received approximately 15,000 votes, while Notarianni placed second with 13,500 votes. Connors supported Ed Rendell's successful gubernatorial candidacy in 2002. 	Jimmy Connors James Scott Connors (born September 2, 1952) is an American former world No. 1 tennis player. He held the top Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranking for a then-record 160 consecutive weeks from 1974 to 1977 and a career total of 268 weeks. By virtue of his long and prolific career, Connors still holds three prominent Open Era men's singles records: 109 titles, 1,557 matches played, and 1,274 match wins. His titles include eight major singles titles (a joint Open Era record five US Opens, two Wimbledons, one Australian Open), three year-end championships, and 17 Grand Prix Super Series titles. In 1974, he became the second man in the Open Era to win three major titles in a calendar year, and was not permitted to participate in the fourth, the French Open.
