James Cavanaugh (songwriter)
James Anthony Cavanaugh (New York City, 29 October 1892 - New York City, 18 August 1967) was an American songwriter. Among his best known songs were "Mississippi Mud" (1927, made popular by Bing Crosby), "Crosstown (Glenn Miller song), Crosstown" (1940, co-written with John Redmond), and "The Gaucho Serenade" (title track of the soundtrack to the Gene Autry 1940 movie Gaucho Serenade). Biography Marriage, work as chauffeur and military service during WWI Born in 1892 in New York City, in 1917 Cavanaugh was living in Manhattan, at 511 W 130th St., was married to "Martha V. Conroy", and was working as a private chauffeur for a businessman at 43 West 55th St. also in Manhattan. In October of 1918, he was drafted despite this, but luckily the armistice was signed 11/11/18 and Cavanaugh was discharged honorably in mid-December in the general demobilization. Guy Wood
Guy B. Wood (24 July 1911 – 23 February 2001) was a musician and songwriter born in Manchester, England. Wood started his career in music playing saxophone in dance bands in England. He moved to the United States in the 1930s, where he worked for Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures as well as serving as bandleader at the Arcadia Ballroom in New York. His songs include " Till Then", " My One and Only Love", " Shoo-Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy". His song "Till Then" reached the pop charts three times (in 1944, 1954, and 1963). Richard Joseph Robertson (July 3, 1900 – July 12, 1979) was an American popular big band singer and songwriter of the 1930s and 1940s. He sang for many bandleaders such as Leo Reisman and Roger Wolfe Kahn and His Orchestra, and was on the artist roster at Banner Records. Robertson was one of the most prolific New York based vocalists (along with Irving Kaufman, Chick Bullock, Scrappy Lambert, Elmer Feldkamp, Paul Small and Smith Ballew) on scores of records from late 1928 through the mid 1930s. Larry Stock (born Lazarus Goldberger; December 4, 1896 – May 4, 1984) was an American songwriter. He is most known for being a songwriter and composer for many songs including " Blueberry Hill" which was later recorded by Fats Domino. Early life He was born 'Lazarus Goldberger' on December 4, 1896, in Manhattan, New York City, the son of Adolf Goldberger and Ella Ehrlich.
