James C. Welsh
James C. Welsh (2 June 1880 – 4 November 1954) was a miner, trade unionism, trade unionist, novelist and Scotland, Scottish Labour Party (UK), Labour Party politician who served as a Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament (MP) from 1922 to 1931, and from 1935 to 1945. Welsh worked in mines from the age of 12, an experience which informed his first novels ''The Underworld'' (1920) and ''The Morlocks'' (1924). He later became a full-time official for the Miners' Federation of Great Britain, mining union.''The Socialist Novel in Britain'', ed. by H.
