James B. McNamara
James B. McNamara (AKA J.B. McNamara or JB) (1882 – March 8, 1941) was a 20th-century American labor unionist, best known for his involvement in the McNamara Case as the Los Angeles Times bombing, bomber of the ''Los Angeles Times'' building. Los Angeles Times Bombing
The ''Los Angeles Times'' bombing was the purposeful dynamiting of the ''Los Angeles Times'' Building in Los Angeles, California, United States, on October 1, 1910, by a union member belonging to the International Association of Bridge and Structural Iron Workers (IW). The explosion started a fire which killed 21 occupants and injured 100 more. It was termed the "crime of the century" by the ''Los Angeles Times'' newspaper, which occupied the building. Brothers John J. ("J.J.") and James Barnabas ("J.B.") McNamara were arrested in April 1911 for the bombing. Their trial became a ''cause célèbre'' for the American labor movement. J.B. admitted to setting the explosive, and was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Billings of the San Francisco Preparedness Day Bombing of 1916.
