Jalen Philpot
Jalen Philpot (born July 26, 2000) is a professional Canadian football wide receiver for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). University career After being recruited by multiple U Sports football programs, Philpot committed to play for the Calgary Dinos in January 2018. In his rookie year, in 2018, he played in all eight regular season games where he had 18 catches for 323 yards and three touchdowns. In 2019, he had a breakout year as he recorded 52 catches (second in U Sports) for 767 yards (fourth) and eight touchdowns (first). For his outstanding sophomore season, he was named a Canada West All-Star and U Sports First Team All-Canadian. He continued to find success though the playoffs that year as the Dinos went all the way to the 55th Vanier Cup game. Calgary Dinos
The Calgary Dinos are the athletic teams that represent the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. They were known as the "Dinosaurs" but usually referred to as the "Dinos" until 1999, when the name was officially shortened. Some of its venues are the Jack Simpson Gymnasium (basketball m/w, volleyball m/w, track and field m/w), McMahon Stadium (football, soccer m/w), Hawkings Field (field hockey), University of Calgary Aquatic Centre (swimming, often shortened to Aquatic Centre) and a 200m Running Track (cross-country and track & field practices). The men and women hockey teams play at Father David Bauer Olympic Arena. Historically in the rare case of scheduling conflicts, both men's and women's hockey have used the Max Bell Centre for games. The ''Ottawa Sun'' is a daily newspaper in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is published by Sun Media. Cory Philpot
Cory Philpot (born May 15, 1970) is a Canadian football coach and a former professional running back who is currently the head coach for the Langley Rams of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). He played for eight seasons in the Canadian Football League for the BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played on the Lions' winning Grey Cup team in 1994. College career Philpot played college football at the University of Mississippi for the Rebels from 1990 to 1992. Professional career Philpot joined the BC Lions for the 1993 season. In his sophomore year, he played in 15 regular season games where he had 201 carries for 1,451 yards and 13 touchdowns. He won a Grey Cup championship as the Lions defeated Baltimore in the 82nd Grey Cup game in 1994. The 2022 CFL National Draft was a selection of National players by Canadian Football League (CFL) teams that took place on May 3, 2022, at 8:00 pm ET and was broadcast on TSN and RDS. 74 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. The draft was broadcast live on TSN for the first two rounds. 2020 U Sports Football Season
The 2020 U Sports football season was scheduled to feature Canadian football competition under the auspices of U Sports as the highest level of competition for amateur football in Canada in 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, U Sports cancelled the national championships and the Atlantic University Sport, Canada West, and Ontario University Athletics conferences announced the complete cancellation of their schedules on June 8. The Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec conference waited to make a decision until September 14, when they also announced that all university sports would be cancelled for the remainder of 2020. Montreal Carabins Football
The Montreal Carabins football team represents the University of Montreal in Montreal, Quebec in the sport of Canadian football in U Sports. The Carabins program has been in operation since its resurrection in the 2002 football season and has established itself as a provincial and national powerhouse with four RSEQ conference championships and one national championship since 2014. History The team began its second incarnation in 2002 after over thirty years of being dormant. The Carabins first began play in 1966 in the Ontario Intercollegiate Football Conference and continued play for the next six seasons.
