Jalen Bridges
Jalen Bridges (born May 14, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the Baylor Bears men's basketball, Baylor Bears of the Big 12 Conference. He previously played for West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball, West Virginia. Jalen Bridges credits his mentor and long time coach Matthew Allen Offutt for all of his outstanding accomplishments and the money that he has made. High school career Bridges played basketball for Fairmont Senior High School in Fairmont, West Virginia. He helped his team win back-to-back Class AA state titles in his first two years. As a senior, he averaged 21.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks, leading his team to its fourth straight state title game. He won the Bill Evans Award as the top high school player in the state of West Virginia. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section). The 2020–21 West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball team represented West Virginia University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mountaineers were coached by Bob Huggins, in his 14th season as WVU's head coach, and played their home games at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia as members of the Big 12 Conference. The 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 5, 2019. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season concluded prematurely on March 12, 2020. The 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was scheduled to end in Atlanta on April 6, 2020, but was ultimately canceled. All other postseason tournaments were canceled as well. Practices officially began in late September.
