Jalal Merhi
Jalal Merhi is a Brazilian-born Lebanese-Canadian martial artist, actor and filmmaker. As a competitor, he was a regular on the tournament scene in the late 1970s to mid 1980s. As a film and television producer, he owns the Film One company, and previously owned a studio located at the Donlands Theatre in Toronto. Early life Merhi was born in Brazil to a family of Druze Lebanese expatriates working in the jewelry industry. He moved to Lebanon at age six, before moving again to Canada at age nineteen to study and to escape the Civil War. He initially spent time between Montreal and Toronto before permanently settling in the latter. In Canada, Merhi studied film and business. He is an alumn of Ryerson University and George Brown College, where he was discouraged to pursue a film career by one of his professors. Cineplex Odeon is a theatre brand owned by Cineplex Entertainment in Canada, after acquiring the Cineplex Odeon Corporation in 1998. As of 2023, there are 61 Cineplex Odeon locations in Canada. The former corporation was one of North America's largest movie theatre operators and live theatre, with theatres in its home country of Canada and the United States. The company was the result of Cineplex Corporation in 1984 purchasing and merging with Canadian Odeon Theatres, which itself was the result of a merger between Canadian Theatres and Odeon Theatres of Canada in 1978. ''Black Pearls'' is a 1991 Canadian martial arts film directed by Ron Hulme, and starring Jalal Merhi, Monika Schnarre, Lazar Rockwood, Bolo Yeung and Jamie Farr. Merhi stars as a college graduate who renounces his upper class lifestyle to learn martial arts in Hong Kong, and take down the local drug cartel responsible for the death of his brother. An international version, which received significant alterations, was released in 1994 under the title ''Fearless Tiger''. Greenwood is a List of Toronto TTC stations, subway station on the Line 2 Bloor–Danforth in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the southwest corner of Linnsmore Crescent and Strathmore Boulevard just north of Danforth Avenue. The entrance, collector's booth and bus bays are at street level, with stairs and escalators to a lower concourse level which provides a passage between the platforms on the level below.
