Zubří (Vsetín District)
Zubří () is a town in Vsetín District in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 5,600 inhabitants. Etymology The name is derived from ''zubr'', i.e. 'European bison'. They lived here at the time when Zubří was founded. Geography Zubří is located about northeast of Vsetín and south of Ostrava. It lies in the valley of the Rožnovská Bečva River and its tributary, the brook Hodorfský potok. The northern part of the municipal territory lies in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids mountain range; the southern part with the built-up area lies in the Rožnov Furrow. HT Tatran Prešov is a handball club from Prešov, Slovakia, that plays in the Niké Handball Extraliga and EHF European League. History The official establishment of the club begins in 1952 under the name Slavia CSSA. In 1954, Tatran successfully qualified for the championship of Czechoslovakia, where they won their first historic bronze medal. The Czech Republic national handball team is the national handball team of the Czech Republic. It was most successful in the mid-1990s, with sixth place at the 1996 European Championship and a win over the later runners-up Croatia at the 1995 World Championship, but the team have failed to qualify for major championships on several occasions since. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it.
