Jakob Pöltl
Jakob Poeltl (sometimes spelled Jakob Pöltl; ; born October 15, 1995) is an Austrian professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Utah Utes. In his sophomore year for the Utes, Pöltl was a consensus second-team All-American, and won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award and Pete Newell Big Man Award as the top collegiate center and low-post player, respectively. After the season, he declared for the 2016 NBA draft, where the Toronto Raptors selected him in the first round with the ninth overall pick. He was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in July 2018. After five seasons with the team he was traded back to the Raptors in February 2023. Early life Pöltl was born in Vienna, Austria. The Netherlands men's national under-18 basketball team is the national junior representative for the Netherlands in international under-18 basketball tournaments. They are governed by Basketball Nederland. The team competes at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket, mostly in Division B. The current coach is Paul Vervaeck. The Austrian Basketball Bundesliga (in German: Österreichische Basketball Bundesliga) was the top men's professional basketball league in Austria. The Vienna Timberwolves, formerly Vienna DC Timberwolves, are an Austrian basketball club based in Wien. Since the 2018–19 season, the Timberwolves play in the Austrian Basketball Superliga (BSL), the highest tier in Austrian basketball. The Timberwolves are three-times Austrian Second League winners.
