Jakkur (also spelled Jakkuru) is a suburb in the northern part of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Located on the eastern side of the National Highway 44 between Yelahanka and Hebbal, the area is best known for the Jakkur Aerodrome and Jakkur Lake. Jakkur Aerodrome The Jakkur Aerodrome, spread over 200 acres, was opened in 1948 and is the only dedicated general aviation field in the city. The Government Flying Training School (GFTS), one of the oldest flying schools in the country, is located in Jakkur. Jakkur Lake The Jakkur Lake is a 160-acre lake constructed over two centuries ago to cater to the water requirements of the Jakkur village. Sahakara Nagar is a residential suburb near Bangalore, India. Jakkur Bengaluru Inscriptions
Jakkur, a suburb in Bengaluru, is a locality with a long history, spanning approximately 700 years. The name "Jakkur" is found in an inscription dated to 1342 CE, providing clear evidence of the locality's antiquity. This area is home to four inscriptions and several hero stones (''Veeragallu''). The earliest inscriptions found in the area can be dated paleographically to the 9th - 10th century CE. These inscriptions also suggest that Jakkur Lake, considered one of the largest lakes in Bangalore, existed at least seven centuries ago. Two hero stones have also been discovered in Jakkur: one is a Atmabalidana (self-sacrifice) memorial stone from the 10th century, and the other is a Maha-Sati stone from the 16th-17th centuries. Pelican
Pelicans (genus ''Pelecanus'') are a genus of large water birds that make up the family Pelecanidae. Jakkur Lake
Jakkur Lake is among the biggest lakes in Bangalore, and is located on the northern side of the city. It derives its name from the name of the locality, Jakkur. It is spread around and has several islands. Jakkur Lake is one among the various lakes in Northern Bangalore preferred by various walkers and joggers and is a Bird paradise because of its several islands in the middle of the lake. It is open for everybody in two shifts during a day and those are towards the morning 6:00 AM till 9:00 AM IST (Indian_Standard_Time) and towards the evening 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM IST. Hebbal, Bangalore
Hebbal is a neighbourhood in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, which was once indicative of the north endpoint of the city. Though originally famous for Hebbal Lake, Bangalore, Hebbal Lake, it is now better known for the serpentine maze of Overpass, flyovers that network the Outer Ring Road, Bangalore, Outer Ring Road and Kempegowda International Airport, Airport Road on National Highway 44 (India), NH 44.
